Mooring

“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29‬:‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;”
Psalms 19:7 NKJV

Mooring

We are watching a world that has become untethered, for many go about doing what is right in their own eyes, having no regard for the what is in the word of God. As a result, our world is dissolving, devolving into a godless abyss where safety is at a premium and there appears to be no hope.

Reason has been cast into the outer darkness, as seemingly sane people advocate for things that are destructive and counterproductive to the conduct of human life.

We have cast off restraint.

This is true in the world, and increasingly, it true in the church. Many denominations that have previously believed and were led by the authority of the Scriptures, have departed after man held tradition. The tenets of the faith have been all but ignored in many churches to the degree that many, if not most, don’t even teach that one must be born again.

“Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.””
John 3:3-8 NKJV

Even in those churches that still profess to believe the word of God, salvation has been industrialized, as it has been broken down to praying a “sinners prayer”, walking an aisle and somehow being pronounced “saved”, with little regard to following up or the ongoing inspection of the follower for fruit of the Spirit. True conversions are often in doubt.

As a result false professors fill the pews, tares sown in amongst the wheat, and challenging the preaching and teaching of the word. Many a denomination has found itself surrendering to the will of the godless world, adhering to the pressures to conform to the perversions of the flesh.

In the midst of these dire trends, the Lord has given those who still believe, the word of God, unchanged, serving as a sure and steady anchor. Thanks be to God there are still churches that preach and teach the word of God. There are still fathers who have not abdicated their place as spiritual leaders for their families, and there are still children being taught moral bounds set forth in the Bible.

Brothers and sisters, let use urge on those who are called by God to teach us, to preach to us the preserving words of our God. Let us encourage them day in and day out, for they are battling strong, evil winds that are pushing to them to relent.

Let we ourselves take the time to read their word, to be diligent and intentional to read the bible and do what it says. In our adherence to what is written, we can resist the decline of our world, if but for a moment, and use that time to go and tell the world about Jesus.

In these last days we are seeing the outpouring of people who have cast off all restraint. Paul cautioned young Timothy about what was to come.

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
II Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV

Even in the face of such struggles it is of grave importance that those who know the Lord remain steadfast snd diligent to share the word. We must be bold and, never neglecting to preach the whole counseling, even when people do not want to hear it. Time is short my people.

“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”
II Timothy 4:1-5 NKJV

Preachers: stand and deliver, fathers: stand and deliver, mothers: stand and deliver, teachers, leaders, overseers: stand and deliver. We are approaching the zero hour. Many things are happening in our world that point to the soon coming of the Lord.

  1. I’m ready, with the Lord’s help.

1 Peter 3:13-16 (ESV) 13 Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 16 having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
