“Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications. If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord More than those who watch for the morning— Yes, more than those who watch for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is mercy, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He shall redeem Israel From all his iniquities.”
Psalms 130:1-8 NKJV
Election Day
It is Election Day, and the world is watching what happens in the United States. For some there is foreboding, for they are fearful for the future of democracy. For others, it is the potential for a country where freedom is still free. Regardless of the outcome, the best that can come is not likely to have any lasting impact on a country within a world that is careening to the edge of the cliff, for all time is rolling up as a rug.
As I sit here, my thoughts are not on the day that we go and vote, but to a day, many ions ago, at the foundation of the world, when the God of the Universe pointed through time to this horrible, rotten sinner and said: “he’s mine.” On that day, the Son of God, in whose hands was all creation made, was ordained to come to earth, to take on my sins, and the sins of the whole world.
That was THE Election Day, of all election days.
Many, many things are on the horizon, many difficult things, as the world is facing the crumbling of world economies. It will be a time when there will be no human fixes, for what is to come is not of man, but is supernatural. In the great troubles to come, we will need to focus on the One who has the power to save and deliver.
Reading Psalm one hundred thirty was a much needed balm, for I spent the night filled with a sense of foreboding. So many have placed so much emphasis on this election, and many have taken their eyes off the real driving force behind all that is happening.
Sovereign God is preparing the world for the return of His Son.
Likewise the forces of evil are cueing up weapons of flesh and blood to do the bidding of the evil one. In these times, it is essential that we remain vigilant in pursuing our mission. Those that we see as being in opposition, are also those the Lord desires to save.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Ephesians 6:10-13 NKJV
The evil days are coming, so let us not be distracted by apparent victory to the degree that we cease to do the Spiritual things, for the battle is truly supernatural, and our weapons must also be so, and not carnal. Let us be mindful always.
“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—”
Ephesians 6:14-18 NKJV
Brothers and sisters, even as the coming tallies appear to be in the favor of those who are conservative, let use not neglect the ministry the Lord has given us. There are many souls nearest hell. Let us enter our calling with renewed vigor, pressing on to go and make disciples. I tell you the truth there is little time left.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV
Passing legislation banning certain behaviors and lifestyles, without seeing to the conversion of souls, only creates more sin. The true victory comes in leading the lost to Jesus, that their hearts be changed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Let us go forth with compassion, letting the love of Jesus be our guide, and let us also be diligent in telling them that the Lord is also just and holy. Let us tell them of the Gospel, that thing that brings about the salvation for those who are the elect of God.
Lest we forget:
“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.”
I Corinthians 15:1-5 NKJV
