“Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:19 NKJV
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I am not one to make resolutions. Back when I did, the year would start with a flourish and I would be filled with enthusiasm and zeal for the goal I set for myself. After a few weeks I would falter and then fail. The enthusiasm would be replaced with despair.
I cannot change.
In my strength, or more importantly, my flesh lasting change cannot happen. The old man shakes loose the odor of decomposition and stinks up the place. There I am doing what I don’t like.
“For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.”
Romans 7:15 NASB
Lasting change can only happen by the power of God. In the transaction of salvation through Jesus Christ, our weak spirit is replaced by His Holy Spirit, giving us the power to resist the flesh and walk in the Spirit.
As I enter the new year, I desire the Lord to do a new thing in me and through me. In many ways He has already started. He re-birthed the prayer chair and given me the desire and an endless supply of fodder to blast into fb space with little notes. I am anxious to see what else He will do.
Challenge
I challenge us to ask the Lord to do a new thing in our lives, to carve a road in the wilderness of our hearts and a river in the desert of our daily existence.
Letting the Lord have reign is scary, that I know. But He can be trusted because I have found that He literally has my life in His hands. He has shown His blessing and faithfulness daily.
He tackles the strongholds of sin in my life and creates highways of holiness in me that do not hinder my witness. He has turned the odor of decomp into a sweet smelling aroma pleasing to Him and alluring to those I seek to lead to Jesus.
Ask the Lord to do a new thing this year!!!

Absolutely! Our God abounds in steadfast love and faithfulness. This is a good challenge that I will pray over. Thank you!
