God before us

““When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. So it shall be, when you are on the verge of battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people. And he shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭20‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God before us

I love the synchronization of the Lord. Morning after morning, He will visit me with the just right worship song, with just then right message that matches the Scripture He has laid upon my heart, and the impulse to write what He has instructed.

The Lord is trying to tell us something, for He knows the end from the beginning. We are entering a period when the pressures on the people of God will be immense and it will as seem as if the enemy is too numerous for us. In reality the enemy is too numerous, for what we will be called upon to do in the coming times will be impossible in flesh.

But the Lord is going before us, and indeed is already before us, securing the ultimate victory. Reading Deuteronomy chapter twenty, was once again reminded that the battle is not mine. We as Christians are the spiritual recipients of the blessings of the children of Israel.

As the children of Israel are the sand of the sea, the earthly descendants promised Abraham, we are the stars of the sky, too numerous to count.

“And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.””
Genesis 15:4-5 NKJV

Even as I write this, there are signs that this world is fading away. A big bank failed yesterday, and many more will follow. Many companies are facing uncertainty as their payroll is tied to that bank.

Even the mighty Wells Fargo is undergoing unspecified computer problems that have negatively impacted the accounts of millions. China managed to make peace between Iran and Saudi Arabia, making way for the antichrist kingdom to come.

As I look at this world as a Christian, I fight the temptation daily to look upon the enemy and see the great numbers against us. One wouldn’t blame me if I felt the desire to duck down and hide my light beneath a bushel basket, but that is not what the Lord has called us to do.

He has set us to be the light of the world reflecting the light of Jesus, as we bring the light of the Gospel into a sick and dying world. In these times may we ask the Lord give us eyes to see, that we be like the servant of Elisha, blinded by fleshly fear, yet with supernaturally opened eyes, made able to see the deliverance of the Lord.

“Therefore he sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city. And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
II Kings 6:14-17 NKJV

OPEN OUR EYES, LORD!

Brothers and sisters, let us bless the Lord. We are not surrounded, for we know that the Lord is greater than the enemy, for we are reminded that we have God for us, God with us, and God in us.

We are dealing with a world that is increasingly awash in false Christs seeking to draw us away. The world has begun its onslaught on the word of God, the Bible, and the person of Jesus. But we know better, for we have been introduced to the real thing by virtue of His grace.

Let us us the word to test every spirit, loo into things to see off hey be of God.

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.”
I John 4:1-6 NKJV

Let us keep our eyes on the Lord, looking to Him, this Jesus, who laid aside His glory to come to earth to be one of us.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians 2:5-11 NKJV

He endured momentary humiliation, that He be exalted in due time. When the devil moved those who would crucify Jesus, for a moment the devil thought he had the victory. But the devil could not see the true hand in the events surrounding the death of Jesus, nor could he imagine that the Savior would rise from the dead.

Even now Satan is expecting a victory, but know this my people, the victory is already one, and we know because the record of it is written down. Rejoice my people, for the Lord’s army has filled the mountains and His victory is assured.
