“I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech. Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You From those who rise up against them. Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings, From the wicked who oppress me, From my deadly enemies who surround me.”
Psalms 17:6-9 NKJV
You hear us!
We are walking through the last days of this year, and we are looking forward to a new one. There will much coming in the that year, that will be continuations of things that have commenced in the years previous, for life seldom is broken into organized segments.
Even as I complete this time and enter the next year, filled with uncertainty, I know one thing for sure: the Lord will be there, He will carry me, and He will hear my prayers.
He is ahead of the trials that may come, for God knew them from the foundation of the world. Each day of my life has been known by my Creator, the Designer of my substance, and though I know nothing of what is to come, He has shown me that He can be trusted.
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!”
Psalms 139:14-17 NKJV
Reading Psalm seventeen was great reminder that we have a faithful God, who is always there and always aware. I am reminded that He holds me in as the apple of eye, watching closely, so closely that my very reflection can be seen.
In that close proximity, I focus all the more on Him, His word comes alive in me, making me a reflection of His grace. Regardless of what I may encounter in the coming year, I know that my Savior Jesus walked through this world and endured things I cannot fathom, all so that sinners like me can have salvation, peace with God and access to the Father.
There will be adversaries in the coming year, just as there were in the past, but like then, I know that my God will do war with them, for the battle belongs to the Lord. My job is to be about the business of worshipping the Lord and making Him known.
“Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God! Depart from me, therefore, you bloodthirsty men. For they speak against You wickedly; Your enemies take Your name in vain. Do I not hate them, O Lord, who hate You? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You? I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them my enemies.”
Psalms 139:19-22 NKJV
Brothers and sisters, let us enter this coming year with a focus on the Lord. The devil will be lurking about, looking for openings to distract us from our purpose. But we have the benefit of the word of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit, who knows al things and can illuminate the Scriptures that we be able to discern the will of the Lord.
Let us also show the love of Lord, praying daily that He place HIs heart on our hearts, that we be able to see others as He sees them. I tell you the truth, it is hard for me, for I have been one on whom great hurt has been given. It requires a constant reminder of what the Lord has done for me, and how the sin of all of humanity placed Him on the cross.
Let us pray that the Lord prompts us daily to put on the whole armor of God. For me need be wary that we do not wrestle against fresh and blood, but against mere mortals who have been manipulated by the evil one.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Ephesians 6:10-13 NKJV
The adversaries that we will face in the coming year may also be people the Lord desires to save.
In the midst of whatever darkness may come, let us remember this main thing. The Lord hears us. Let us cry out to Him in the midst of trouble. Let us call out to Him with great praise in times of blessing. In all things, let us call out to Him, keeping a constant conscious contact with our Lord.
He hears us!
“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.”
Psalms 34:1-4 NKJV
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
I Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV

He is, hHe truly is! There is no one like our God in the heavens. Great encouragement, thank you, Bernie.
Isaiah 64:4 (ESV) From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for him.
