Praise the Lord

“He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Praise the Lord

I completed my annual reading through the bible this morning. I would have to say that this was one of the most enthralling years that I have experienced over the course of this endeavor. Many mornings, the Lord seemed to sync up what was happening in the blaring headlines with what I was reading.

Each morning has been filled with anticipation, and I can’t wait for tomorrow when I will begin again this wonderful journey, poring over God’s love letter to His faithful saints.

As I finished the last few passages, I was struck by how each terminus had connection to the others. It all gave me a sense of the unity of the Scriptures, confirming for me that this book, with forty authors, was inspired and superintended by One God, the Holy Spirit. It is the complete story of the God of Creation, Elohim, the Word, become flesh, and His work to reclaim that which was lost.

““Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, With the statutes and judgments. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.””
Malachi 4:4-6 NKJV

Malachi warned of the coming of Jesus, both the former and the latter, for just as Moses and Elijah foretold of the coming of the Lord, and John the Baptist came in the spirit of Elijah, so soon will many rise up to bring the message of the Good News to this sick and dying world. This time there is more meaning to the message, for the time is near when there will be no more warnings.

We are surely in a time of the last warning, for humanity has strayed far away from the way of its Creator, and gone after other gods. We have sought to elevate the creation over our holy God. We are in the time of recompense, when the summing up of our sins will give way to the payment of the wages on a global scale.

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”
Romans 1:28-32 NKJV

We are entering the darkness of the long night, but those who have called upon the Lord Jesus for salvation, know that the night will eventual pass, and soon the light of day will come. In these times we, can feel as if the night is long, but we press on, for the word of God has assured us that the Lord is coming.

As I read on, I became excited as I read of the last words of the Book of Revelation, for with this reading, there is a sense of immanency, for even the coming year could be filled with events that will shock the world, and bring wonder to the saints.

All the signs in this world are pointing to the soon coming of the Lord. He has already given us the sign of Revelation twelve, verses one and two on September, 23, 2017. Now we await the sign of verses three and four, and then there will be no doubt that our redemption draweth nigh.

Brothers and sisters, let us prepare for the coming year, by opening our bibles and reading over the Scriptures like we have never before. This year will be one of great trouble, but great blessing, for we will see the faithfulness of Our God. Let us enter this season with great rejoicing.

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!”
Psalms 150:1-6 NKJV

The Lord has given us His word as a guide through the perilous times to come, and He sent HIs Son Jesus, to live with us, to die for us, to be buried, to rise again, that He live in us. Let us not forget that He is the word that we can have faith in. Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
Genesis 1:1 NKJV

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
John 1:1-5 NKJV

  1. Let us give thanks, and praise the Lord, indeed! Regardless of whatever suffering, he is worthy to be praised and adored. Thanks for the great reminder, Bernie!

  2. I read this after studying your blogs this morning. I want to share it with you, because I think it will encourage you brother:

Psalms 93:1-5 (ESV) 1 The LORD reigns; he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed; he has put on strength as his belt. Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. 2 Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting. 3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. 4 Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty! 5 Your decrees are very trustworthy; holiness befits your house, O LORD, forevermore.
