““The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’”
Numbers 6:24-26 NKJV
Endurance is the calling of the day, as the life we once knew is soon to devolve into one where those who call upon the name of Jesus will never again take for advantage the blessings of the Lord.
My life has become very basic, for the Lord has reduced it down to this chair, this laptop and my various bibles. I am at the time when I no longer benefit from fellowship, for it is becoming harder to drag this weary body to church, but the Lord visits me in my solitude daily, filling me with His presence.
Reading the Aaronic, priestly blessing, I found great comfort this morning, for the Lord reminded me once again of His faithfulness. As I approach His throne daily, through prayer, bible reading and worship, I can feel the comfort of the Lord.
“May the Lord bless you and keep you;”
I tell you the truth, the Lord has blessed and kept me far beyond anything I could ever imagine. As it is my habit to pray for others, I seldom pray for myself, for I have learned that my God is aware of all my needs, long before I even think of them, and that when He blesses it goes beyond all that I could ever ask or think.
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21 NKJV
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33 NKJV
Knowing that that the Lord will bless me and keep me, I am free to focus on Him, giving my all, the totality of my devotion. I have been convinced of His worthiness, even in the most dire and dark of times.
“The Lord make His face shine upon you,”
There have been times when I have felt completely forsaken, when the rejection of this world has overwhelmed the good thoughts that I have of myself, but it is in those moments, when I am warmed by the brightness of the Son. The Lord reminds me daily that He is aware of me, that He loves me, and that He is no where near completing His work in me.
Because of that love, I have set my desire upon Him, forsaking the fleshly world, and even the status one might have in it. I have learned what it means to be a living sacrifice, to be held in place on the altar, consumed by holy fire. My life is not my own. In the last two decades, and in an ongoing way now, I humbly acknowledge that the Lord has the ability to snatch my last breath and still my heart.
I live on borrowed time, for HIs glory.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
I know that I am ruined for this world, for I no longer fit in, as Jesus has made me a denizen of His coming Kingdom, and the eternity to come.
All I have is Christ.
“And be gracious to you;”
I tell you, my walk with the Lord has been nothing short of perilous, for early on I fought tooth and nail against built up strongholds. Being an adult survivor of sexual trauma, I am left separated from other humans beings for I lack any desire or empathy. I have had an unnatural desire to be alone, that is still very much the case to this day.
But the Lord is gracious, as He waited for me, loving me from afar, and sending just the right people to me. It was not easy, for I am like a walking push button, easily activated. Even now I weighing whether to even remain in church, praying diligently for the Lord’s will as I take a much needed break.
The Lord made me an intercessor, praying loving my for others. From having no empathy, to having the heart of God, the Lord has done a mighty miracle!
By His grace, He waited for me for twenty seven years. Even now, I know that grace, for I, like any sin corrupted human, am not yet perfected. But I know that He is not finished.
“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
Philippians 1:6 NKJV
“The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,”
Brothers and sisters, let us remember that the Lord is for us, that He has care for us and, even in the face of persecution from the world, there is a reason for the hope that is in us.
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
I Peter 5:6-11 NKJV
The Lord is fully aware of what all we go through, and has been since the foundation of the world. With all this in, let us rest in Jesus, being built up by His power, and bearing the sufferings of this present time.
“And give you peace.”
Finally my people: Our great God brings us peace. We know what is coming at the end of all of this. We, who have called upon Jesus for salvation, who have been born again, having nothing to fear. The Lord is working all things for His glory and for our God.
Because of His endless blessing, there is nothing that can separate us from the Lord and what He has planned for us. Let us be faithful to go and tell of the Gospel, the good news that Jesus came to earth, the holy God/Man, lived as a sinless life, died a sinners death, was buried and rose again.
Nothing can take us out of His loving hand.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:31-39 NKJV
