The last generation of the age

“There is a generation that curses its father, And does not bless its mother. There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes, Yet is not washed from its filthiness. There is a generation—oh, how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up. There is a generation whose teeth are like swords, And whose fangs are like knives, To devour the poor from off the earth, And the needy from among men.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭30‬:‭11‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The last generation of the age

Well, we’re going out with a bang. Or better yet, a gunshot. Each morning I awaken to lurid headlines screaming about some act of violence, so extreme and brutal. All too often, it involves those who are young people who should have big plans and hope for the future.

In recent days, three football players at the University of Virginia were shot to death, but another of the same age. At the University of Utah, four coeds were stabbed to death in their home. It is as if the devil himself had declared war on the young. I think he has, for he knows that his time is short.

Humanity has been in a state of devolution since the Fall, for moment Adam took the first bite of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, after submitting to the authority of his wife, to the fallen state that we are in today. We find ourselves closer and closer to the edge of the abyss, and its is just a matter of time before all restraints are cast aside and we leap in.

Reading from Proverbs chapter thirty this morning, I was reminded of another passage in II Timothy, for it is the fulfillment of the first. We are the perilous times, and soon any restraint that holds the fabric of humanity together will be rent. There is coming a day when peace will taken from the earth.

“And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”
Matthew 24:4-8 NKJV

There will be those who set themselves up as false Christs, preaching fleshly wisdom as holy, and counting themselves as virtuous. The morality of the times will be upside down, for what is abomination will be protected and what is righteous, will be viewed as evil. Even now we see this taking place, as acts once unspeakable have been codified into law.

Brothers and sisters, it is time for us to stand on the foundation of the Scriptures, to be relentless in going and telling the world about Jesus, the One who came, who died, was buried and rose again. The bible is becoming all the more relevant with each passing day, for the events at the end of the book are unfolding, becoming distinguishable and sharper in our vision.

It is also all the more important for us to stand out against the tide of the times, for the evil one is seeking to devour the young. I urge you parents, to put aside your own fleshly desires and consider your children. I tell you the truth, I am praying for hundreds of millennial and gen z offspring who have left the faith, or who were never in it to begin with.

They are watching you, and they are deciding who God is by YOUR actions.

““And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 NKJV

Now would be a great time to establish that family bible time, that moment when the rightful spiritual leader of the family, the father, presents the word of God and, by way of example, does what it says.

“Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.”
Luke 17:1-2 NKJV

The world is after your kids, my people, and they are winning.

Let us walk in the light before our kids and the world, for are ambassadors of God, placed in a wicked world to point people to Jesus. Let us be faithful calling upon the power of the Holy Spirit, being filled and controlled by Him in all that we do.

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.””
Ephesians 5:8-14 NKJV
