Joy

“After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭7‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?” And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭7‬:‭13‬-‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Joy

The church in America has comforted itself to sleep. We have become accustomed to living faith lives with no real struggle, with no concern for the real danger that is inherent in being a follower of Jesus. Little do we know, the tide is turning, for even now there are forces criticizing those who call upon the name of Jesus with increasingly strident and violent tones.

Where we were merely an irritation, we are now being presented as the enemy. I watched a video of a baptism in a body of water, I think in Canada. As the evangelist interviewed the man to be baptized, one could see two possibly gay protesters, waving rainbow flags and yelling epithets. Once the baptism was under away, they evangelist and the new believer were accosted with silly string and others seeking to drown them.

Despite the opposition, the man rose from the water, arms held high, for he was filled with the joy of the Lord, and nothing was going to keep him from worshipping his King Jesus.

Reading Revelation chapter seven had more clarity for me this morning, for it is a very real possibility that I and many of us, may soon be in that number, of every tribe tongue and nation. That day is coming for us, and indeed, it has already for many of us around the world.

Fear not. We know the One who has the power over all things. He has overcome the world.

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.””
John 16:33 NKJV

Each of those appearing on that day will have gotten there, having had a moment of horror, possibly having endured things unspeakable. But the memories of that terrible moment will pale in the glory of the Father as they gather before the throne. I tell you the truth, I have a great advantage. In my life, I have experienced many unspeakable horrors, many of which come to my mind frequently, but I am more reminded of the joy I have now in Jesus.

As we ponder the coming trials and tribulations, it is easy for us to become filled with trepidation, having deep concerns for all that is to come. This is especially concerning us who have loved ones. It is all the more important to make sure they know the Lord.

Know this, on that day the Lord will fill you with His presence and you will receive the grace to endure.

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
I Corinthians 10:13 NKJV

“But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!”
II Timothy 4:17-18 NKJV

The Lord has the power to deliver us through whatever we may experience, and will welcome us into His glorious Kingdom.

Brothers and sisters, the darkness is coming, and soon will be here. Decide today to abide in the Lord, being reminded that He is for you. He has given us His word, that He will be with us through it all.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.””
Joshua 1:9 NKJV

Let us go boldly into the world, proclaiming the truth of God’s word and Good News, that Jesus came to save sinners. Let us not be silent, but loud, even as the world is actively seeking to shut us up. Soon, they may resort to violence.

The ground in which the seed of the Gospel is planted is watered by the blood of the saints. This must be so.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.”
John 12:24-26 NKJV

Let us rejoice in that we get to know true fellowship the Lord. May this heart be in us:

“But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.”
Philippians 3:7-11 NKJV

Have a Blessed Lord’s Day!
