The word of God stands

“Now after the king had burned the scroll with the words which Baruch had written at the instruction of Jeremiah, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying: “Take yet another scroll, and write on it all the former words that were in the first scroll which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned. And you shall say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, ‘Thus says the Lord: “You have burned this scroll, saying, ‘Why have you written in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and cause man and beast to cease from here?’ ” Therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: “He shall have no one to sit on the throne of David, and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat of the day and the frost of the night. I will punish him, his family, and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring on them, on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah all the doom that I have pronounced against them; but they did not heed.” ’ ””
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭36:27-31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The word of God stands

The world is passing away. Such words are often met with rejection, as the mortal man has deceived himself into thinking that this world will go on forever, that it is just too big to fail. In reality it has already failed, for the best efforts of humanity are but life support. This is also true of the United States.

The word of God paints a picture of the disposition of this tiny blue planet that has a terminus, a point when one age ends and another begins. In the end of this age, a new one will emerge, where the values of a loving, all powerful God will rule over the desires of men.

In these waning days, there are those who do not desire to receive the message of coming change, and seek to lay aside the message, choosing other beliefs. These, wrapped up in self deception, seek to burn the knowledge of the word of God from their hearts and minds, running after strange doctrines that preserve the status quo.

The passage in Jeremiah chapter thirty six, was enlightening, encouraging, and alarming, as even now there are those who would if they could, set all the bibles in the world alight. They push the world’s agenda, discounting what God has said. But even as they do this, the word of God stands, and what says will come to pass, will come to pass.

I am encouraged because the word of the Lord will ring true despite the efforts of those to toss it aside and refute the outcomes contained in its pages.

Jehoiakim, in his unbelief, thought that he could merely burn the scroll and hunt down Jeremiah, and all would be fine. But, the word stood, and Lord added to it curses for Jehoiakim.

Brothers and sisters.

In these perilous times, may we be a people focused on the word of God, that which is unchanging, that which is faithful and will be fulfilled. Let us not be fearful of what is to come, for we know in our hearts, guided and instructed by the Holy Spirit, that all these things must come to pass.

“And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”
Matthew 24:4-8 NKJV

““Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”
Matthew 24:9-13 NKJV

This reality is coming, for it has already come for many. But hold on my people. We serve a God who loves us, who is for us, who is with us and is in us. We do not face all these things as children abandoned, but we have one like the Son of man walking with us.

We are as the three youths in Daniel, cast into the fiery furnace for our unwillingness to bow down to the world’s idols.

“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.””
Daniel 3:16-18 NKJV

“Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.””
Daniel 3:24-25 NKJV

In the midst of the fire to come, whose embers are already apparent, we know that our God will be there, and that we know that the outcome will be complete as the Lord rules and reigns over this world and every knee will bow and every mouth confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

The word of the Lord will stand, it will not come back void. In tell you the truth, the Lord has worked in my life, and know that at the end of all this pain, I will stand in glory!

In my flesh, I am sure I would have loved to burn those Scriptures that have caused me trouble, brought conviction, but having walked through the fire and found the Lord faithful, I am thankful for every one.

““And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write, ‘These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life: “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
Revelation 2:8-10 NKJV

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.””
Revelation 21:1-5 NKJV

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8 NKJV
