Darkness surrounding

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.””
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:8-14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Darkness surrounding

I have noticed that my dreams have begun to grow darker, more ominous, as if the weight of these times is beginning to press in on even my subconscious. In my conscious moments, I am fully aware of the darkness, as all manner of evil is spilling into the world in which we live. It is getting to the point where there is no hiding from it, no safe place in which to run.

I was refreshed by reading Ephesians chapter five this morning, being reminded that I am a child of the light, and not of the darkness and that my dreams are only a reminder of what life is like without Jesus. Because I have the light of Christ, I am to shine into darkness.

In the midst to this darkness, we are commanded to walk as children of light, representing our Lord Jesus, bringing the Gospel to those who are blinded by the darkness of the times.

We become children of light by our salvation in Jesus, having been forgiven of our sins, and being transformed by the presence of the Holy Spirit in us. Because of the presence of the Holy Spirit, we show the transformation of our hearts and minds by, the presence of the fruit of the Spirit. That presence marks us as different for we behave counter to the behavior of the world.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
Galatians 5:22-25 NKJV

We walk as rays of lights shining into the prevailing darkness that is our world. Our brightness, in itself, can bring conviction to the heart of the sinner, when they notice that we do not partake in their sins.

Because we know better, we are able to look at the world we live in and mark those behaviors that are not of God. As we live righteously, we expose the works of darkness, for we stand out in stark contrast, demonstrating the fruit of the Spirit and not the fruit of the flesh.

“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV

Brothers and sisters, in these late days, it is important for us to have our minds, hearts and bodies stayed on the holy things of God, for the world has established sinfulness as the standard.

But be forewarned, as the world will seek to put out the light that exposes what they do as sin, for they have relied on a spirit of ignorance for justification of continuing in their lifestyles. When Christians are around, righteousness and, by contrast, unrighteousness, is made apparent, and all excuses are rendered void.

We are the Light bearers at the fork of the road. Many will go to the left, the road to the worship of the Harlot, and others to right, the road destined to the Antichrist. It is our job to tell them about the heavenly path, the one that leads only to Jesus and forgiveness.

May we be as wisdom, calling out in the open square, pleading for the unwise to turn toward the truth.

“Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares. She cries out in the chief concourses, At the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words: “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge. Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.”
Proverbs 1:20-23 NKJV

For our protection, let us focus on the word of God, that our light be made all the brighter, for the Lord secures the follower of Jesus, sustaining our sonship and our inheritance. The word of God is available to those filled with the Holy Spirit and the Lord gives it freely.

“My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path. When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things,”
Proverbs 2:1-12 NKJV

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

  1. I agree Bernie. It does appear that the leash is being loosened on evil. We can be so incredibly grateful for an omnipotent God and Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ!

Yes indeed! The Lord’s light will shine brighter through us, I pray, as the darkness increases in our world.

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:20-21‬
