“Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. But You, O God, shall bring them down to the pit of destruction; Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; But I will trust in You.”
Psalms 55:22-23 NKJV
Casting your burdens
There is great blessing in facing opposition. It has the tendency to clarify those who are for you and those who are against you. If not for opposition, one would have no idea who the enemies are, where they are, and life would be filled with ambushes.
Standing for Jesus in these days is one sure way to face opposition. The world has become entrenched in the sins of the Harlot, as she moves toward her maturity, and readies herself for her final presentation to the beast. She desires nothing more that to present the martyrdom of the saints and followers of Jesus.
Just at the time that we are facing such great and woeful opposition, we are also presented with the greatest of opportunities to present the Good News. All the terrible things happening in our world are getting the attention of those trapped, and hearts are looking for answers.
Speaking will bring trouble, but we know that we have the Lord. I needed the reminder I saw in Psalm fifty five, that we have a Creator who is mindful of our needs and is able to bear our burdens. I find myself turning to Him often, as I witness the devolution of the culture I live in and the sadness as I consider the desolation to come.
I know what awaits those who are against the follower of Jesus, and I feel a deep burden, for none of them can comprehend the shear horror of an eternity in hell. I plead for the boldness to speak, and for the love of God to fill me, that I be able to share the Good News with love, and not the due penalty of hell as a cudgel.
“But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.”
II Timothy 2:23-26 NKJV
This not only applies to those that we preach the Gospel to outside the faith, but all the more to those within the congregations, for the evil one is seeking those he may use to undermine the work. Very often, I have chosen to remain silent when I have witnessed those in error, opting to pray for them, that they see the truth.
I also pray for those in opposition, those who have maligned and slandered me, having no knowledge of me. I pray for their blessing, that Lord bring the light of the Holy Spirit into their hearts and minds, that they come to repentance.
Brothers and sisters, I know that many of you are struggling, for my messages are filled with requests that belay the daily struggles that you face. Know this: your God is faithful! He knows what you are going through. Cast your burdens upon Him.
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
I Peter 5:6-7 NKJV
The goal the devil is to cause you to take your eyes off the Lord Jesus, and place them on earthbound solutions that have no power. The devil is active, using many things to draw Christians away. Let us cling to the word of God, enduring in prayer and seeking the Lord always.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”
I Peter 5:8-9 NKJV
As we face the struggles that come with being faithful to Jesus, let us be reminded that the Lord is faithful where ever there are people who call upon the name of the Lord. He is with those who believe God.
Above all else, let us keep our eyes on what is to come, for we already know that the Lord has given us victory. Our focus in this time must be on endurance. Let us not grow weary, but let us be about the business of building each other up in the faith, spurring all on to good works.
Encourage your pastors, elders and deacons, and those who teach you. They are the primary targets of the evil one. Pray for families especially. Satan seems bent on destroying the children.
““I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
Revelation 2:9-10 NKJV
