Well laid trust

“I have seen the wicked in great power, And spreading himself like a native green tree. Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more; Indeed I sought him, but he could not be found. Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright; For the future of that man is peace. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together; The future of the wicked shall be cut off. But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:35-40‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Well laid trust

My life is lived under the view of the world’s radar, as the Lord has sought to humble me in the latter parts of my life. I am a man of no power, in the fleshly realm, but thanks be to God, the Lord has blessed me with His ear, for the Lord Jesus saved me by His grace. Because of this, I know that I can trust in the Lord.

Around me, it seems the wicked prosper, for they seem to be doing better than I, but I have also seen that even the most wicked pass away. I like to watch a YouTube channel called HOLLYWOOD GRAVEYARD. It features tours of graveyards around the world where the graves of the rich and the famous are located and brief histories are shared.

I am often struck how a famous person, once bigger than life is now marked by a small stone or a niche. The person who once had great power is now no more. In the case of those in power, they were once trusted, once looked to for guidance, with their very words holding influence.

Some of them were truly wicked, having done things to others and leaving legacies of infamy. For all those, who did not come to know Jesus, there is coming a judgement, a time when the stuff of their lives will be laid out in open books, and the Lord will judge.

“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.”
Revelation 20:11-13 NKJV

Coming from the bottom, where most of us dwell, it is easy to become restless, to fret over the seeming lack of justice. But justice is coming, and it may no resemble what we are expecting.

The Lord is even now setting the stage for the downfall. Just yesterday the leaders of Russia, Turkey, and Iran met behind closed doors. Only God knows what they spoke of, but I am sure that the rest of the world will know in due time.

Brothers and sisters, let us remember that the Lord is faithful, and in Him we have well laid our trust. The Lord is for the righteous, and our salvation is secured in Him. As this world strains against the coming storms, we know that we have a sure and steady anchor. Because of Jesus we have a place after the storm, and a future.

It is our job to live holy lives, reflective of the glory of God, that we be effective witnesses. The evil one has sown discord into this world, and provided destruction for every sector of society. We have become divided as a people. We the followers of Jesus must, push against the flow, and reach out to those in opposition.

It is not up to us to decide who is to be saved, for Lord Himself knows. We are called to go and take the Good News of the Gospel, the story of what Jesus did on the cross.

“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,”
I Corinthians 15:1-4 NKJV

In these perilous times, it can and will seem as if only the wicked are prospering and that there is no hope. But hang on my people! The Lord is moving.

Begin today to prepare yourselves for the times to come. Seek after the Lord in His word, being built up in the faith. Pray without ceasing, putting the things of God ahead of things of this world.

It is time to be girded against the things to come. The Lord has given us all things sufficient to survive these terrible times.

“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”
Ephesians 6:14-18 NKJV
