“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
John 1:1-5 NKJV
“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”
Colossians 2:8-10 NKJV
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8 NKJV
“I and My Father are one.””
John 10:30 NKJV
Jesus is God
One can tell that the Lord is coming soon. There seems to be an all out assault on the name and authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, as all manner of accusation is thrown regarding what He did or did not do, or what He did or did not say.
Many are as the serpent in the garden, questioning, “did He really say that?”
Many of these are people who are seeking to legitimize their sinful lifestyles, and somehow lessen the condemnation that is to come for those who refuse the word of God.
They strive in futility for they are imperiled people standing on the edge of a tall building proclaiming that they do not believe in the law of gravity.
This morning, reading in Judges, I encountered the story of Samson, the judge empowered by the Lord. His parents encountered the Angel of the Lord, the pre-incarnate Christ. He came to them bringing news of a blessing, as He did with Sarai, telling of the birth of a deliverer, a type and foreshadowing of His own birth as the deliverer of the world.
“For behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. And no razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.” So the woman came and told her husband, saying, “A Man of God came to me, and His countenance was like the countenance of the Angel of God, very awesome; but I did not ask Him where He was from, and He did not tell me His name.”
Judges 13:5-6 NKJV
When He visited again they sought His name, but He did not reveal it, for it was wonderful. When He left them, He ascended in a pillar of fire, causing them to fall on their faces.
“When the Angel of the Lord appeared no more to Manoah and his wife, then Manoah knew that He was the Angel of the Lord. And Manoah said to his wife, “We shall surely die, because we have seen God!””
Judges 13:21-22 NKJV
The authority of God is not diminished in Jesus, and what has been established in the Old Testament must be considered with every bit as much weight as in the new, for the old is not done away, but confirmed and fulfilled.
As we await the coming of the Lord, and we feel alarmed at the devolution of this world we are living in, let us focus on the things to come. The same God that set the heavens into place, will once again remake what has been corrupted by sin. Those hands, marred by the nails we put there, will one day create a new heaven and new earth.
Ignore the voices of those who will try and tell you that the word of God is no longer relevant, that the values set forth in its pages are not for these times. Instead rejoice that the Lord has given us His eternal guide book, ever so timeless and eternally relevant, for we are seeing the fruit of sin played out as our world dies.
Brothers and sisters, Jesus is the same whether it be yesterday, today, and He will be the same forever.
Those who challenge the word of God are doing so hoping that you have not studied it. Sadly, this very true for far too many, especially Christians. I challenge you to begin studying the word of God, showing due diligence as you seek the truth.
The aim of those who reject the name of Jesus, is to reject the authority of God. If the Bible is true, if Jesus is God, if He went to the cross for our sins, then they are sinners and destined for hell if they do not surrender and seek forgiveness .
If Jesus is the savior of the world, then there is no other way to salvation except through Him. This runs headlong into the sinful pride of man.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
John 14:6 NKJV
Let us be bold and proclaim that Jesus is God, that He is the way, that He is the truth, that He is the life. Let us go forward and live that life before the world, as those transformed.
In the time to come those who revel in the flesh will have no ground ion which to stand, as all that they have heard dear will wrecked. Those who seek to legitimize sexual immorality, who seek to justify murder in all its forms, will find themselves demolished upon the Rock that is Christ, and they will have no recourse.
“Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.””
Revelation 21:5-8 NKJV

In “Jonathan Edwards: a new biography” By Iain H. Murray, Edwards is quoted as such:
“For such the highest joy is not to be found in reflection upon their salvation, it is rather in knowing and loving God himself.“ Page 143
Jesus said to Phillip in John 14:9, “if you have seen me, you have seen the father.”
As Jesus is the word made flesh, and I will continue to zealously seek him, and to know him and love him through His word.
Thanks for the great challenge Bernie! Happy Monday!! 🙂
