Arms open wide

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭121:1-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Arms open wide

When the darkness is creeping, pressing into me to seize my heart, I can easy become so overwhelmed that I become overly depressed, even so to the point when I wonder if God is truly my help.

Then I settle down with HIs Word.

Yesterday was a dark day for me, as the evil one was seeking all the entry points, probing for soft spots, in which to inflict pain and discouragement. I am thankful for those who prayed for me, and for those who reminded me that many of us are dealing with much pressure these days.

The life of an intercessor can be a hard one.

This morning I created the meme for the church, and the Scripture verse that came up reminded me of Who is actually on my side.

“My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”
Psalms 121:2 NKJV

There is no greater power than the power of God, for nothing can stand against Him. Psalm 121 is a great reminder of the fact that we serve Almighty God, and He is a constant help.

Old Testament Israel is a type for the New Testament follower of Jesus. The temporal and spiritual promises made to God’s chosen people, are echoed in the spiritual promises made to those who have called upon the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins.

That short passage is filled with so many great promises, so many assurances and an image of God with arms open wide, to receive those who have faith in Him. In these times of great pressure, within and without the church, let us turn our hearts to the Lord like never before.

Many of us have become complacent and have not considered the evil machinations of the devil. He is on the prowl, seeking whom He may consume. Some of those in opposition are being used as hell’s kamikazes, sent on spiritual suicide missions, with their destruction unbeknownst to them. Let those of us who are aware, be mindful of this and lean the Lord to take the Hit, for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood.

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Ephesians 6:11-12 NKJV

The devil is heaving missiles of flesh and blood at us, in the hopes that we destroy them. We must instead be faithful to complete the commission set before us and lead them to saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. They are sinners, and sinners are good at sinning. We are sinners, but we have been saved through grace. They need the same repentance and forgiveness that has changed our lives.

In the coming days, weeks, months, and perhaps years, we will need to remember that the Lord is there as our help. Jesus went to the cross with arms open wide, to receive all those who desire to be saved. He also is at the right hand of the Father interceding on our behalf, and one day, will receive us into His Kingdom with arms open wide yet again.

In the darkness of coming times, remember the Lord is coming again. If your struggles are in the church, pray for those in opposition, choose to love, and know that all that you do is under the inspection of the Lord, and will be considered in due time.

“And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.” “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.”
Revelation 22:10-14 NKJV

  1. Thank you for these words. Things do feel veiled in darkness, and sometimes we need to remember Who is our light…greater is He. But…He is waiting with open arms, if we will just trust Him. He will anoint our heads with oil and our hearts will be filled with peace during turmoil and things of this world. God’s blessings for writing from your heart.
