“I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Psalms 16:7-11 NKJV
Steady
In the Lord, I have found that I can have great hope, as He has proven with each passing day that I can count on Him. In the past, I trusted only myself, facing great challenges, many becoming insurmountable stumbling blocks in my life. I walked through the world, made weary in my struggle, as my efforts to get my self from trouble, would drain me, ultimately worsening my trouble. Inevitably, my efforts would only make the situation worse. I was as one who had fallen into a slimy pit, being dug deeper by my efforts.
From the darkness of that hole, dug by myself, the Lord reached me, drew out of the pit and saved me from my sins.
“I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.”
Psalms 40:1-3 NKJV
In addition to that new song, I have a new mind and new thinking. In His word, I receive new counsel, as I no longer rely on what I know, but what He has imparted to me. My old mind was a fleshly one, drawn to sin like a moth to a flame. I now dwell on His word, in the quiet times, and it is transforming me from the inside out.
As it is written in Psalm sixteen, the Lord is always before me, and I shall not be moved. The Lord has moved into a life previously dominated by the evil one, having reclaimed more and more of my inward parts.
I rejoice in His sending His Son Jesus, to live a sinless life alongside His creation, to instruct us on how we should live. He went to the cross to pay for our sins, was buried and rose again. By faith, I am forgiven, made new.
Because God did not allow His Holy One to see corruption, I have newness of life, being remade in the image of my Creator. A life that was so easily shaken, is now rock solid, held steady by an unshakeable King, reigning over an unshakable kingdom, that will never end.
Brothers and sisters, let us be faithful to acknowledge what the Lord has done for us. Let us consider what our lives would be like if not for the grace of God. I know personally, that would likely have died at my own hand many years ago, if not for Christ. I was scraping at the bottom of my life, trying to tear through to oblivion when He reached me.
There are people outside the household of faith who are living those lives that we have been spared. They are waiting. They need to hear from us.
The Lord has used my testimony to reach others, sharing my story of abuse, pain, struggle and redemption. He can use yours too. We have been saved for a purpose. Each of us has a divine appoint waiting somewhere out there, with someone who needs to hear what we have to say.
May we be available to go and tell. In my life, the Lord has been my great comforter, holding me steady in the midst of life’s storms. I pray for the Lord to send that person who needs to hear the story of a life made steady in hands of a loving God.
Enjoy the quiet of this night, my people. One storm has passed, and more may be on the way. Some might even involve the weather. Sleep well.
How did your property turn out after the storm Bernie? We had limbs and things like that, but no damage to speak of. So thankful to have a new song in my heart, I like you. So thankful to have you as a prayer partner. Hope you have a great night as well my friend. God bless you.
