“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
II Chronicles 7:14 NKJV
More often than not, people will make the effort to affix New Testament biblical meaning to texts of Scripture that are not meant for them. Many times I have heard people try and apply II Chronicles 7:14 to America, thinking that if we were do the things detailed, this country would be miraculously healed.
In reality that Scripture was written to the nation Israel as Solomon began his reign. It is nice thought, though, seeing the nation repent and turn from its sins. Sadly, one can only know to repent if they had some idea that they are sinners. We are living an nation of unbelievers, people who often have not even heard the Gospel.
When I consider the passage above, I think of believers, individual people of God, who have wandered from the path. Revival begins with me, as I humble myself, pray and seek His face, and turn from my wicked ways. I am an ambassador of Christ, drafted and empowered to share the message of Good News.
“And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
Mark 16:15-16 NKJV
We who have called upon the name of the Lord for salvation have largely failed in our mission. We have chosen to follow our own will, and desires, leaving the work of evangelism to over worked pastors. The great commission is not:”go into all the world and invite people to church,” but, go and make disciples.
I pray for those on my list to have opportunities to have divine appointments, where they can share their testimonies in the hopes of winning another to the Lord.
When we consider the sinfulness of our world, we must first look to ourselves. If we had been faithful to go and tell, we would have the world we desire in the here and now. Instead we bemoan the dead state of the world, especially our country, and yet we still do not go and tell.
Brothers and sisters, tomorrow is a brand new day. Pray that the Lord give you an opportunity to share the Gospel. May we behave as Christians, proudly proclaiming the message of our Savior Jesus. There is great need in the country for the truth.
God can heal our land, He can bring revival. But know this, He will begin His work in the household of God. When we have humbled ourselves, prayed and sought His face, turned from our wicked ways, He will then hear from Heaven, and heal those we have reached for the Gospel. National change comes one soul at a time.
Remember as this day comes to an end, that God is for you. He will be with you as you go to sleep, and with you when you awake. He is faithful every moment of the day.
Let us begin our new day, dedicating ourselves to Jesus. Time is short. There is no time for pew sitting. It is time for prayerful action.
“My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah”
Psalms 62:5-8 NKJV
Sleep Well my people!
