“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”
I John 3:1-3 NKJV
Blessed hope
Getting older is like experiencing death, one day at a time. It is slow a process as entropy comes creeping upon us, each day showing just a little bit more of the decay in my abilities, and revealing just a few more pains that weren’t here the day before.
Even as I feel this body slipping away, I also feel a building up of hope in me, as I know that one day I will see my Savior, whether it be by rapture or death. It causes me to reflect on what I have in Jesus.
The love of the Father bestowed on us is unfathomable, utterly amazing, as he has taken a people destined for hell, and made them heirs to the riches of the Kingdom. Before Jesus, I was one of those destined for hell, caught up in sin, with a life filled with strongholds. Each day was drudgery, as I struggled against myself, being my own worst enemy.
Then I came to know the Lord, and He began to create in me a new heart, transforming my life. As I changed, I no longer fit into this world. My values went from up with the times, to being archaic, grounded in the unchanging word of God.
“if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
Ephesians 4:21-24 NKJV
I put off the old man, moving from being a child of he devil to be a child of God.
One day, this old body which is passing away, will be replaced by a new one. The glory of God will be manifested fully in that new house, and there will be no more sadness, no more sin, no more pain.
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”
I John 3:2 NKJV
As I move forth with my new destiny, I feel a purpose to walk worthy of that calling. As my God is holy, I seek to live holy, representing Him effectively.
Brothers and sisters we are on mission to take this amazing love to the world. We approach a society in which we no longer belong, and bring a message that is completely foreign. We come with the power of God, the Holy Spirit, guiding us and urging us forward.
Let us press on, seeking to make disciples every step of the way. Let us do so fearlessly, as we have a blessed hope that the world cannot take away.
“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”
Titus 2:11-14 NKJV
Happy Sunday!
So thankful that Christ appeared, bringing salvation to all people. So thankful to have this salvation! What a great reminder Bernie. Thank you.
