“Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation; Preserve my life from fear of the enemy. Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, And bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words, That they may shoot in secret at the blameless; Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear. They encourage themselves in an evil matter; They talk of laying snares secretly; They say, “Who will see them?” They devise iniquities: “We have perfected a shrewd scheme.” Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep.”
Psalms 64:1-6 NKJV
I rejoice in the sovereignty of the Lord. In all eventualities, good or bad, I know that the Lord has ordained. His ways are not my ways.
As believers, we are not called to seek only comfort in the here and now, because this is not our home. We are on mission, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In that mission we must be focused, keeping our eyes on what the Lord is doing.
There is danger in being a follower of Christ, as there are those who wish to defeat us, lay snares for us. Know that the evil one has his minions everywhere.
“But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; Suddenly they shall be wounded. So He will make them stumble over their own tongue; All who see them shall flee away. All men shall fear, And shall declare the work of God; For they shall wisely consider His doing. The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and trust in Him. And all the upright in heart shall glory.”
Psalms 64:7-10 NKJV
We know that our God is for us, that He is working His plan. The desires of the evil ones will not succeed, as we know that the Lord Jesus is coming again.
As the news abroad brings anxiety and fear, let us consider all that is to come. We know that all we are experiencing are but birth pangs.
“For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”
Matthew 24:7-14 NKJV
Brothers and sisters, greater things are coming, and all that we have and will endure will not compare to glory to come. Remain focused on Lord, and the mission He has given you.
When we focus on the struggle, we are robbed of peace and joy. The devil loves that. We become hopeless, and begin to doubt the Lord. We then turn away.
Seek the Lord in your trouble. You will find that He is good.
“The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him.”
Psalms 34:7-9 NKJV
