“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.”
Psalms 19:7-10 NKJV
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
Philippians 4:8 NKJV
There are so many truths being bandied about. We are living in a time when each person has their own truth, and each truth has its own standing in the public square, thus creating a reality where there is no truth because each cancels out the others.
As a result of too many truths, people are in conflict, as opposing truths collide with others, and the battle rages.
There is only one truth:
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
Genesis 1:1 NKJV
It is the foundation of everything, and everything that was, that is, that will be springs from that truth. In the season of peril and oncoming destruction the world is in, I choose to cling to that truth as my solid rock, my standing place on which I dwell.
There are those who will tell you that the bible is no longer relevent, but I will tell you that it is more relevant than the daily newspaper, and a lot more accurate. In our current age prophecy is being fulfilled daily, and we are seeing the ratcheting up of tensions in various places that will soon break loose as cataclysmic events unfold.
Keep an eye on Jerusalem.
All of biblical history is leaping from the pages of the newspaper and filling the airwaves, becoming relevant even to the ignorant and the unbelieving
In the culture of the world, the guiding structures have been erased, or are crumbling, as everyione is doing what is right in their own eyes. Appetites are reigning, and everything is up for grabs. In this season it is essential to focus on the eternal and durable things of God.
The word of God is solid, steady, unchanging. It is foundational and can be depended upon regardless of what we might feel or think. It is beyond the excitement of the moment. It is always trending.
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”
Hebrews 4:12-13 NKJV
There is no hiding from God and His word, it has the ability to search the soul of the reader, scanning for sin and convicting the soul. It cuts deep with surgical precision, as it roots out the spiritual cancers that plague us. In this world careening toward the abyss, we must maintain our connection to the word, and open ourselves to Him, that we be able to endure.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”
Psalms 139:23-24 NKJV
In the coming days, weeks, months and maybe years, we will be tested and confronted with realities that have little to do with the Word of God. We will lean on our knowledge of God and His knowledge of us.
In the midst of these times, we need to remember that we have been saved by Jesus, and we belong to Him. We are His ambassadors in these times, and the bible is our manual for living. We are on mission, bringing an eternal message to people hooked on the next great thing. The word is our preparation and our message
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
II Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV
Brothers and sisters, let us avail ourselves of this great resource called the bible, that we be equipped to go out and proclaim the Gospel and remain unspotted by the world. Around us many who have previously professed the faith are falling away, and some may not have know salvation at all. Others are embracing doctrines of demons, that run counter to the truth.
It is time to focus on the rock solid truth of the Scriptures and the Good News that Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose from the dead. We need to equipped for everything in the fight to come, let us pull on all the armor and neglect none of it.
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—”
Ephesians 6:13-18 NKJV
