“And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.” Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad. Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death.”
John 11:49-53 NKJV
Adolph Hitler hated God. His hate was made manifest in his hatred of jews and Christianity. He had studied some Scripture and had an awareness that the jews were God’s chosen people, and one day, Israel would be reborn. In his evil mind, he decided that he would prove himself superior to God by exterminating the jews in the Holocaust. No jews, no prophecy fulfilled.
God in His great soveignty, took the evil intent of Hitler, and brought about the rebirth of Israel on May 14, 1948. God took what was meant to be evil and used it for good.
As I read John chapter 11 this morning, I was reminded of how man is woefully shortsighted, and has no understanding of the workings of eternal God.
Jesus had raised Lazurus from the dead, and the religious authorities feared that the people would believe in Him. They feared loss of power and loss of their nation, if the Romans intervened.
They decided that Jesus needed to be put to death. In their godless thinking, they believed that they could bring an end to this Man, and restore the status quo. Little did they know that God was in control, as He was the moving all the pieces into place, that all the world would be saved.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
John 3:16-17 NKJV
“For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.”
Romans 6:10 NKJV
Since the foundation of the church, the evil one has used many in his attempt to defeat the body of Christ, as many of our brothers and sisters around the world have been been persecuted unto death for their faith. We have been spared in the west, so far. I believe there is coming a day when we too will feel the fire of persecution. Like the religious authorities at the time of Jesus, they will think they are doing good in getting rid of us, and missing the sovereignty of God.
Christianity is most infectious and effectively spread, when it is drenched in the blood of the saints. Those in the body either fall away or are refined. Those that remain, double down and go all in. When you get to the point where you have nothing to lose, all you have is Jesus, and that great Salvation you can never lose.
In the face of the coming struggles, let us be faithful to go out and tell the world of this Jesus, who went to the cross for us, to pay for our sins. Because of the hope of Heaven, we are willing to die for Him.
““I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
Revelation 2:9-10 NKJV
My people, be at peace with what is coming. Through the pain there will be great joy!
We know that our God is sovereign, and that He has already written the end of the story. In these times, it is good to go deep with God, to dive deep into the Scriptures, to pray without ceasing, and make the most of fellowship. We in the west have been given the gift of freedom, and the warning that freedom is slipping away.
Our nation, like the rest of the world, is in a death spiral. Now is not the time to worry about political concerns, as all those we lean on to save us are owned by the big corporations. We must lean on Jesus.
It is time to shore up what remains, that we make the most of the time we have left. Encourage the weak, strengthen them, urging them upward to greater faith, that they be useful to the Kingdom. It is all hands on deck, as the evil one is pressing hard. He knows his time is short.
“Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed. Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.”
Hebrews 12:12-16 NKJV
My brothers and sisters, I am praying for you, fervently, that you have courage and desire to engage the enemy with the Gospel and magnify the victory.
