“His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather the wheat into His barn; but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire.” And with many other exhortations he preached to the people. But Herod the tetrarch, being rebuked by him concerning Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done, also added this, above all, that he shut John up in prison.”
Luke 3:17-20 NKJV
“Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
Revelation 2:10 NKJV
Under the radar
John the Baptist stood tall in his times, making no effort to hide. He was a big blip on the radar, drawing attention from all. He was the forerunner of the Lord, the one who would go and tell and make a way for Jesus.
He did not mince words and said what he thought. In those days, this was not popular, and in these current times, even less so. He was one brought to bring the message of things to come.
“as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight. Every valley shall be filled And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough ways smooth; And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’ ””
Luke 3:4-6 NKJV
He did not hold his life dear, and went about his ministry with fearlessness. He did not seek to be less visible, and challenged the power structure of the times. All that he did was to prepare hearts for the bringing of the Gospel, by the One who would follow.
As I have sought to serve the Lord, I have noticed that adversity has accompanied me every step of the way. The world belongs to the evil one, and its values are contrary to the word of God. When I first began my walk of faith, I often sought to move about under the radar, undetected, in the hopes that I would not be persecuted. When I did speak of Jesus, there was mocking.
Regardless of my efforts to hide, the Lord always managed to shine a light on me, and more often than not, I became offensive to those who hated God. I watched in horror as old friends slipped from my life, as people I had known for years turned on me.
As I matured in the faith, I came to the understanding that there is only one way to heaven. My life and words began to embody that fact, and my worldy standing suffered. I preached all the more, exalting Jesus, His sufficiency to save, and His exclusive domain in regard to salvation.
As I have become more outspoken, the more adversity I encounter. The world is approaching the zero hour, and there is soon coming a day when the true “Great Reset” in the Bible will come to pass, as the Lord comes again.
Brothers and sisters, there is coming a day when we will be like John the Baptist, proclaiming the Good News to a generation that does not know God. What we preach is foreign to the ears of those who do not know the Lord. Just as John took on the seat of power, convicting them of their sins, we like him will pay with our freedom, our livelihood, our lives.
It is easy to hide under the radar, to keep our mouths shut, to not let anyone know that we belong to the Lord. Let us not be like Peter, confronted around the fire as he denied the Lord Jesus.
“Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.”
A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And when he thought about it, he wept.”
Mark 14:30, 72 NKJV
My people, it is not about us. It is about Jesus and His power to save those we are to reach from their sins. We are on a rescue mission. Just as people being saved from drowning, thrash about, the people we are to rescue will strike out against us.
Remember, that you are not the one who brings the harvest, but it is the Lord. The Holy Spirit is reaching hearts in the perilous times, and is opening doors for the Gospel.
Soar high my people, stand tall for the Gospel and tell of the great things that God has done for you. Tell the story of your forgiveness from sins, how He has transformed your life. Make sure you tell of His amazing grace.
“This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.”
II Timothy 2:11-13 NKJV
