“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
“I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.”
Psalms 34:4-6 NKJV
I have a help. That reality is what allows me to meet each day, and go through whatever I may encounter. It is not a promise of deliverance, though God has delivered me often, but it is a promise that come what may, He will be with me.
I look back on a life filled with moments when the Lord has held me fast, and never let me go. He has been, and is, so faithful in all situations. I am in the winding down period of my life, when I have the opportunity to reflect on what was and what is, and look foward to what will be, as I move toward eternity.
In my life, I have found that I can lay my anxieties on the Lord, and He gives me peace in exchange. One of favorite passages in the Bible is Psalm 34, as it reminds me that the Lord is always near.
I first encountered the passage when I went through my cancer journey years ago. In that season, I cried out to God and He delivered me at a time when I needed Him like no other. He heard me and truly relieved me of my fears.
These days we are in a season of reminder of the need for God. So many people are under dire stress and we find ourselves struggling with our concerns and worries about the future.
I have learned that there is little I can do to fix anything that is going on in my life that is not of my doing. I have also learned that government can’t even fix itself, hense my tendency to not look to it for my solutions.
The bible says in Philippians to be anxious for nothing, and to give thanks. I have to admit that this can be hard sometimes, as bad things seem to come at us with increasing frequency. I have determined to set aside a time, daily, to stop and seek the Lord. It is essential.
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psalms 46:10 NKJV
In that slice of time, I am reacquainted with Jehovah Shalom, God my peace. For that moment, my mind is set on Him, all other concerns are put aside. I am like David, sitting with the Lord beside the still waters.
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.”
Psalms 23:1-2 NKJV
Brothers and sisters, let us rest in the Lord, as we see the world around us falling apart. As I said before, I believe darker days are ahead, and we must seek the Lord to be able to stand in these evil days. Take the time to put the Lord to the test, sample the goodness of God.
“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”
Psalms 34:8 NKJV
After you have tasted, go out and tell! Tell of the goodness of God to those who have not had that taste of such a great salvation, that they be saved.
Take the Good News into this dispairing world, filled with pain and trouble, and little hope in sight. Be faithful in fulfilling the mission the Lord has given you to tell the world about Jesus.
Take time today to pray for our nation. Pray most for opportunities to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the midst of these perilous times. We are in dire need of a revival in the church, and a great move of God in these last days.
America has never been this close to destruction as we are right now. There is plenty of blame to go around. Those of us who believe must use our access to God to pray for change in hearts before Jesus comes soon.
“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.”
Revelation 19:11-14 NKJV
