“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah”
Psalms 46:1-7 NKJV
We are a nation calling out. In the span of months we went from the commonplace, to the unprecedented times that we find ourselves now in the midst. We are divided, group against group, tribe against tribe, and few dare to tread into the middle ground to make the peace that is sorely needed.
God I need your help.
For whatever reason you have seen fit to give me a heart squarely focused on You. I have little regard for politics, for ideology, for tribalism. I only want to be Yours. Lord, help me to be a peacemaker, one who seeks to open hearts to the Gospel of peace.
I know that You have a special love for those who stand in the gap, who risk everything to stand in the midst of warring parties. God give me strength and endurance.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.”
Matthew 5:9 NKJV
This morning, You reminded me of Your faithfulness, Your ever present help in time of trouble. Lord we are in trouble. Dark forces are moving in and oppressing Your people, causing them to make rash decisions that don’t glorify You.
Those same forces are using those You came to save, as missiles of flesh and blood, aimed at those of us who believe. In the resulting defensive posture, we have forgotten the mission that you have given us: to lead people to salvation, instead seeking to destroy.
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV
I am praying this morning that You would raise up peacemakers, people willing to take the hit, to save souls. People willing to be humble, to be humiliated, as You were, as You went willingly to the cross to pay for the sins of rejecting humanity.
Lord, help me to focus on You, Lord Jesus, to reflect Your heart in the midst of the turmoil, to proclaim the Gospel at risk of my very life. I am Yours, and may it be that I do nothing else. May love go before me as, it went before You, as You were nailed to the cross, and you sought pardon of those who killed you.
“Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.”
Luke 23:34 NKJV
I pray for the heart of Stephen, if the darkest hour comes when my life will be sacrificed for the Gospel, that I too would seek pardon for my persecuters, that you may move on them by the power of Your Holy Spirit that they be saved.
“And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.”
Acts 7:59-60 NKJV
Lord, I plead for revival for Your church, that we would turn from the things of this world, and return to the work that you called us to do. May we be faithful.
I believe that you are coming again soon. I am seeing the signs now, more than ever. I desire to be a faithtul servant, that the end of my life bring honor to You, and many to salvation in Jesus Christ.
““And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.””
Revelation 22:12-13 NKJV
“He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”
Revelation 22:20 NKJV
