“In the LORD I put my trust; How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain”? For look! The wicked bend their bow, They make ready their arrow on the string, That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do? The LORD is in His holy temple, The LORD’s throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. The LORD tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind Shall be the portion of their cup. For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.”
Psalms 11:1-7 NKJV
It is easy in these perilous times to look for fleshly solutions to supernatural problems. Many of us look to laws and legistlation to solve sin problems that we see, and are repulsed. In reality, the tools we seek to use are are those of the world system, and using worldly tools to fix worldly problems, is fine if all our problems were such. As we know, there are supernatural powers at work, behind the scenes, with goals that are eternal.
I love the first sentence in Psalm chapter 11. : “In the Lord I put my trust… When I look at the dangers in these present times, I think little of feeling fear of what may come. In these times, those of us who are sensative are seeing signs all around us, things pointing to the soon coming of the Lord. There are those who are being fearful, and seeking actions that can confront the perceived powers that be. Those efforts are futile, and uneeded, as we know that God is in control.
I know that God is in His holy temple, that He is reigning on His throne in heaven, and I know that I can have confidence. I know that my troubles are but tests, as the Lord builds strength in me and increases the reflection of Jesus in my life. For the wicked, it is the foreshadowing of the destruction that He will reign down on them that do not come to Jesus.
The Lord loves the righeous and hates the wicked.
Brothers and sisters, do not allow yourselves to drawn away from the work that God has ordained for us. When were saved to share the Gospel, bring the healing of the Lord to the broken-hearted, feed the poor, and visit the prisoner, house the homeless, love the unlovable. If we allow ourselves to be caught up in politics, we are no good to the widow or the orphan, and the Good News is placed on the back burner.
“Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”
James 1:27 NKJV
At some point in the past, we started believing that we had a duty to enter the political fray, to create some man-made heaven on earth, where our rules are the ones everyone should follow. As a result the global church has become diluted and fragmented, and the power of the Gospel to save souls has been weakened. Imagine if all the time spent on politicking had been spent on prayer, bible study, sharing the Gospel, and being the hands and feet of Jesus. Our world would be transformed.
The good news is that Jesus is coming again. The bad news is that He is coming soon, and too many of us have failed to be about the Father’s business because we have been distracted. We have forgotten that our trust should be in God.
We are not here to build a kingdom in this world, Jesus will do that for Himself. We are to be about rescuing as many as possible from the fire to come. Before Jesus reigns, He will flip the world, little will stand, not even this beloved nation.
“The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.”
Psalms 46:6 NKJV
Make today the day you make your life about Jesus and the proclaiming of the Gospel.
“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.”
I Corinthians 15:3-8 NKJV
