Reconstitution

“And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭11:6-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:5-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Reconstitution

Social media has made the world very small. I can go to my phone and immediately find out what is happening anywhere in the world and the click of a link. As a result, there is an immediacy in the move of information and culture. Just as the news can travel at the speed of light, via microthin fibers, so too can temptations to sin, make around the world and into the mind.

In Genesis, I read of the tower of Babel, of a time when humanity spoke one language and had one medium and one message, “Let us build a tower…

We are in a similar reality now, as humans around the world are seeking to be one, to go global, to unite and challenge the supremacy of God. Unlike, in Genesis chapter eleven, God has His own message, racing around the world and carried in earthen vessels. He has the message of Gospel gloing out, by the power of the Holy Spirit, and reaching people all over the world, in every tongue, tribe and nation.

God saw fit to divide humanity when they began to unify. He separated every many from another, creating confusion. He did not do this to keep His own supremacy, but to keep humanity from destroying itself. God, being omicscient, knew of this time, of the time when people would be able to pull supercomputers from their pockets and access every bit of knowledge in the world, knowledge of good and evil. A digital tree in the center of our high tech garden of Eden.

Reconstitution

The God that separated humanity by language, brought the saving message of the His glory to people of the world by the power of the Holy Spirit. He spread them about the whole earth, and yet brought them back to one spot, at one time, to hear His message of hope. He used mere humans to bring the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ, one who died on the cross to pay for the sins of all. He reconstituted what He had torn assunder.

““Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:22-24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Brothers and sisters, we have been commissioned to bring the Gospel to the world, to share the great thing the Lord has done, in our own lives, and in the world. At the foot of the tower of Babel, they dreamed of joining God, by the sacrifice of Christ on the cross we have access, as His body was the veil rent so that we have access to the Holy of Holies. Let us use that access to lift others up in prayer, that they be saved.

God is reconstituting humanity in Jesus Christ as we are united by the power of the Holy Spirit, made one for the Gospel, and the ultimate victory of God over sin and death. Let us be about the Father’s business, going and telling. Let us pray for missionaries, for those out doing the work. Let us pray for a burden for the lost, opportunities to reach them, and boldness when the opportunity is afforded. He is making one people, united in Christ.

“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:26-28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We know that time is short. Let us go forth with urgency, to share the Gospel, to testify of the glorious things God has done, of lives transformed. One day we will see humanity in glory, unified, and there will be no separation, either from each other or from God.

“After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭7:9-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  1. Made me think of this. Good stuff Bernie!:
Colossians 3:11 (ESV) Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.
