“Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.””
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:15-17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

When I consider the blessings of God, and the abundance of all the things He has provided, I am overwhelmed. There are so many good things, so many things that build me up, and advance the cause of the Gospel and sustain my testimony. Sadly, the flaws of my flesh, draw me to the forbidden things. As I started up my bible reading for the year, I was taken aback by all the blessings that God had afforded Adam in the garden. There was so much abundance, so many trees offering all kinds of fruits. All Adam had to do was stay away from the one tree in the garden that the Lord forbade him.

Adam had everything. He had a job, soon he would have a woman, yet it was not enough.

“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.””
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:21-23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Life was complete.

Later on, I will read of that disasterous moment when Eve encounters the serpent, and all hell literally breaks loose. I will also read that God already had the remedy. I am amazed as I read, that God knew all the things that would transpire and provided the solution. In the creation narrative, it is Elohim who speaks with Adam and Eve, the Creator, Preincarnate Christ, the very one who one day would go to the cross for the sin of Adam that corrupted all of humanity.

As I read through the Scriptures, I feel like I am reading a story of the ultimate pursuit, of a loving God who is pursuing His creation in order to save them, as the near the abyss. I am reading of people who resist the love of God, thinking that they know better. In these perilous times, I feel as if we are nearing the end of the great story. The pursuit has been long, and we are running as fast as we can. There is a cliff at the end of the road, and the Lord is racing ahead in order to save us from ourselves.

Brothers and sisters, let us be about the sharing of the story. Each of us is part of that grand subplot, each having a story of what God has done for us. It is time for us to share how the God of Creation has provided everything for us, how He created us, and saved us. He has been faithful.

When I consider all that He has done, I am reminded daily of His great provision. I have not known deep need. For that I am blessed. I know that many of my brothers and sisters in far off lands are suffering. He has overwhelmed me with good things. As He lays claim to my heart, I am finding that I am less drawn to the things forbidden. While my salvation is assured, my testimony must remain unspotted so that I can relate the story of my salvation, and the power of His resurrection played out in the transformation of my life.

Use each day as an opportunity to share Jesus with a world chasing after forbidden fruit, and finding nothing but death. Time is short, my people. I am looking forward to a new Eden, which will be far superior to the first, and I want to take as many with me as possible.

“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:1-4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
