Birth

“After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭7:9-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?” And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭7:13-14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Birth

As a man, I will never know the pain of childbirth. I am not sure I can even imagine what it is like. I do know that, sometimes, the hard things in life can give way to joy. We struggle, and in due time, we are delivered. The first moment on the other side is glorious. As I read through the book of Revelation, I found myself pausing and considering the vision of John in chapter seven. It is a foreshadowing of the great celebration to come, that moment when Jesus has the full victory, and all the saints are gathered out of great tribulation.

Many of them, us, will be fresh from the tortures of this present world, and now standing in victory before the throne of God. They will have been delivered through great pain, and labor, but stand as the born again, clad in white robes washed pure in the blood of the Lamb, holding palm branches signifying the victory. I don’t know if there will be memories of former times, of losses, of indignities, but we will know the comfort of God.

“They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭7:16-17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Brothers and sisters, we are in pangs of birth. We each deal with our own struggles, our own pains, and are laboring daily to live. We are also dealing with things corporately, as we see the world we live in slowly sliding into a sinful abyss. I believe we are going to see our lives in the faith made more and more difficult in the coming days, and many will face the decision to stand for Jesus in the face of opposition or not. Persecution is bound to increase, as we know the evil one is aware that his time is short.

Even today, in far off lands, believers are being killed at an increasing rate as persecution is becoming unbearable. We are not seeing persecution to that degree here in the States, at least not yet. In the midst of the coming trouble, let us look to the joy: the joy of standing before the throne of God, clothed in white.

Every day is a struggle, as I go forth into a world where I am increasingly an alien, where I do not belong, and few desire my presence, least of all my opinion. I focus ahead on the prize, the time to come, when Jesus will have the victory. Like any war there will be casualties, as many of us will join our brothers and sisters, as we too will take up our crosses, just as Jesus did. But unlike earthly war, we will rise. Our last breaths in this world, will be our first in heaven. Then, we will come back, this time in total victory.

Let us remain focused on the work at hand, spreading the Gospel to all who will hear. Let us pray for the opportunities and open hearts. Time is running out, and hell awaits many. We must be bold and fearless!

““And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭12:4-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  1. This is truly difficult Bernie keeping my eyes on the prize of eternity with Christ, and praying for you and your strength through the Holy Spirit to do the same.
