Sustained

“Two things I request of You (Deprive me not before I die): Remove falsehood and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches— Feed me with the food allotted to me; Lest I be full and deny You, And say, “Who is the LORD?” Or lest I be poor and steal, And profane the name of my God.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭30:7-9‬ ‭NKJV

Sustained

I have become very choosy about what media I consume. I can say, confidently, that I don’t watch much America news. I have found that American media has become contaminated by the political climate. People are gravitating to those outlets that offer opinions that support what they think. Increasingly, I rely on the bible as my standard for my values, and I find that i am looking at all situations through that lens. As a result, I seek many overseas news outlets which simply report with little bias. ‬‬They just report what is happening.

As I have dug into the word of God, I have developed an intolerance for falsehood, obfuscation, and downright lying that I have observed on ALL of the domestic media networks. In the God’s word, I receive truth, and that truth has developed in me a hunger for more, and a repulsion for lies. When I read things in the media or even Facebook, I automatically find myself wonder if it is true or not. I take the time to seek the truth, or ask questions. God’s perfect word has given me that discerment.

This morning I happened on the next to last chapter of Proverbs. It was so enriching to me. Not only was I reminded of where my pursuit of truth came from, but I was also reminded of God’s sufficiency, how He has provided for me. I can say that He has given me neither poverty or riches. He has provided all that I need. In Him, I am sustained, built up. As a result, I have no need to rely on what human who is in power. In truth, God is always sovereign. I can live as a free person, strengthened by God, a citizen of heaven, ambassador for the Gospel.

I find it sad how so many of brothers and sisters are eschewing God’s word, to chase after half truths and lies of the world. I am mortified at how many have laid aside the values of God to chase after man-made systems. There are some who vote for a party that glorifies the slaughter of infants, and others who vote for party that marginalizes the immigrant. Both appear to chase the dollars of the rich and ignore the plight of the poor.

I have an admission: I really don’t care who the president is. There, I said it. I have learned through my life of observing such things that it really doesn’t matter.

The truth is, a Biden presidency will be just like the Trump presidency, with less of an attitude. in reality Trump’s time in office was a parady of Obama’s second term. Judging from his cabinet choices that have been leaked, the Biden administration will be business as usual. Big money, corporations and banks running the show. That’s why we believers shouldn’t chase after politicians.

“It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in princes.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭118:8-9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I am resting in a sure thing, seeking my God who is the always true. He has never changed. Today, seek the one who has sustained you, the God who sent His Son to die for your sins. In Him there is no changing, no unmeant promises. In Him there is joy.

By leaning on the Lord, you know what the future holds. You also know who holds your future. Let us also remember that we are ambassadors of Christ. We should be about loving others and sharing the Gospel. That is the Father’s business.

Regardless of who wins, I know that God put them there. I will honor them as I have honored every president that has been in power through my lifetime. I do this knowing that my God is ultimately sovereign and places leaders in power and He takes them out. Rejoice in the One who sustains you, the One who holds your next breath in His hands.

  1. Great balance Bernie! Though I probably believe a little bit more partisan than what you have suggested, I am willing to follow the Lord, and biblically submit to the man that he raises up, Romans 13. These are the verses that the Lord has been using in my life during these days. Thanks so much for using your gifts. You are a great blessing to be my friend. Thanks so much for your prayers!
Proverbs 21:1 (ESV) The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will.

Psalms 86:12-13 (ESV) 12 I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever. 13 For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
