Sensor

“O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:1-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Sensor

When I was young, I used to hear the old folks talk of how they could tell it was going to rain by the aches and pains in their joints. I used to smirk, and mock them as I dismissed what I thought was trite talk old people, and I went on my way. My mornings, these days, are filled with daily “I told you so’s” from my Creator as I drag my pained body from the my bed. I feel the coming of rain, the coming of cold, the change of the seasons, as I am sore from my head to my toes. My body is like a sensor, gauging the weather to come.

As I have grown in my faith, I have also become aware of another sensor in my life: the Holy Spirit, sensing the weather of the times we are facing and my soul aches. Sometimes the darkness threatens to overtake me, to envelope me and drag me into the abyss where I cannot see. In those moments I am reminded by God that He is with me. The light shines into my darkness, and I rise.

He has given me His sensor to see with my heart, but by that same sensor, He looks into me. I happened on Psalm 139 as I near the end of my annual read through the bible. This year I am using an old bible that is all marked up and holds many memories of my journey with Jesus. In the abysmal darkness that can become my life, I am reminded that God searched me and has known me. I am His creation and there are no secrets, nothing hidden from Him.

In the knowledge of God’s omniscience of my being, I take comfort, as I am also reminded that He also knows everything that will happen in my life. He knew me before I was the “knowing gaze” between my mother and father, and He knows the last breath I will take. In that knowledge I have security, and in that security, I have hope. I know that God is in control of my life, and that all things work together for my good.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Brothers and sisters, do not fear what may come in the days ahead. Remember that your Creator God knows you, loves you and is aware of all that you may face. He goes before us like a sensor, fully analyzing the dangers on the path. He has given us His word as a daily reminder of what to do when we find the hazards. He has also given us a mission: to spread the Gospel. These times are a warning to us that we must be about the Father’s business, for the evil one is working overtime.

Let us assess ourselves and deal with the things that have gotten in the away of the work that we are to do. I am asking God to search me daily, to root out the things that keep me from being completely devoted to preaching Jesus. I feel like I am in a time when I must jetison the things that bring unnecessary weight, and go forth to do the work. I have found that for me, politics is one of those unnecessary things. I am in prayer mode.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:23-24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God has taken my sensors and retasked them to look for those who need to hear the Gospel. He has refined my prayers, as I now pray for salvation for those who I am not sure are saved. Jesus knows. I pray for those I know to be in the faith, to have opportunities to share the Gospel, to pray and to endure.

Believers, we are in the BIG GAME, the time when everything we have ever learned needs to be applied. Many souls hang in the balance and we must be about the business of telling them about Jesus, about His death on the cross, about His burial and His rising on the third day. We must alert all that HE IS COMING AGAIN! Even those who do not believe, are seeing the formation of the world system that is coming quickly.

Go forth today with boldness, confidence and hope. Tell them about Jesus!
DO NOT FEAR!

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:38-39‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  1. I love the way you describe our different aching body parts as sensors, and compare that to the Holy Spirit. It’s so true! He is so loving, merciful, and gracious to his own. I pray for you daily brother. Happy Friday! :-).
