“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:3-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”
‭‭I John‬ ‭4:7-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It is election day, and we are going out to the polls to select the flawed human leader who will lead this country for four years. We will cast our votes for someone we hope will accomplish at least a small portion of what they promise. I am happy that my life is not dependent on the person we elect. I rejoice in the truth that my life is dependent on the God of the Universe, of a Holy personal God, who came to earth as one Jesus Christ and died for my sins. I did not vote for Him, but He has elected me.

If I had to point to the one thing that brings me to tears in an instant, it is the fact that God chose me. In the light of Christ, I am aware of all my shortcomings, all my many flaws and I know that I am a wretched example of a human being. Yet HE chose me, elected me from the foundation of the world. He loved me first.

Because of Jesus, I am accepted in the Beloved, saved, being sanctified, and will be glorified when He comes for me, or I go to Him. He has kept every promise to me, and has blessed me beyond measure, in more ways than I know. His love is unconditional, and His love has and is changing me. He is also instructing me on how to love.

Those of us who have been traumatized, have a very difficult time giving ourselves over to love. We have a tendency to look for ulterior motives, and hidden agendas, causing us to hold back. God has taught me to love without limit, even when it hurts. It is the kind of love that sent Jesus to the cross for our sins. He was a sinless God/Man paying a sin debt He did not owe, for sinners like me.

Because of that love given to me, and because of His presence in me, His love comes out of me. We are living in a time, in a day when love is essential. Today will be etched in history as a day where we either had a peaceful change of power, or our nation will begin its decent into chaos, and eventual destruction. It all comes down to the individual. It is not about parties, not about political stances, or ideologies, but love.

We are a nation of people driven by fear, separated by media driven constructs that do not take the human experience into account. Reporters will be out in force tonight, hoping that the blood flows in the streets. I am praying today that I see people reaching accross the divide and loving each other, choosing to look into each others eyes and see the human within. I hope the reporters have nothing to say.

Brothers and sisters, let us be the ones to step into the breach, to stand in the gap. We know the love of the Lord. We are the accepted in the beloved. Each of us has been elected to reign with Jesus Christ as priests and kings. We have an inheritance that will never fail, and we have eternity.

We also have access.

Many interests have dumped money into this campaign. They hope to curry favor. God gave us favor through His amazing grace. By that favor, Jesus’ death on the cross, we have access to God. Let us demonstrate that access by showing the love that we have in the Beloved, to others, in the hopes that they come to Christ. Let us pray like never before. I will be praying tonight as the results come in. I will be praying for those who will be out sharing the Gospel in the streets.

Those of us who sense the season are aware that time is short. The significance of this day is not lost on us. Let us go forth and preach the Gospel as the elect of God.

THE PRAYER CHAIR IS OPEN! Send me your requests!

  1. I love your line, “ I did not vote for Him, but He has elected me.”!!! I am praying hard with you today my friend. No matter how this election turns out, there will be great turmoil in our nation.

I have to go back to an old favorite,
1 Peter 4:7-8 (ESV) 7 The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. 8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.
