“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8 NKJVConstancy
I am an observer of the political system. When I was a kid I remember seeing all of the political ads and all the dire predictions if a given party were to take power. I have seen that presidents come and go, and life is like a pendalum, swinging from one extreme to another, with no real lasting change. All that is done is undone, and redone.
I learned from those childhood observations, that it really did not matter who the president was. Life has its own pattern and constancy. When it came time for me to register, I became an independent, a position I still hold. I can say I have voted for Democrats and Republicans in my years. I think it is an even split.
When I became a believer in Jesus Christ, I began to see the futility of human systems with clarity. I noticed how many a politician would tell us that they were going to go to Washington and maintain the ideals that got them elected, only to be seduced by the system. In the end they catered to the party and the special interests, and left the constituents wanting. Whoredom does not observe party lines.
My life has made me dependent on the Lord. I can say that He is all I have, and He has shown Himself to be all that I need. He has been my provider, my help, my sustainer as I have had to lean on Him. Jesus has never failed me. He has kept His promises, when people have not. For many people, faith is an idea, but few really put it to the test.
They rely on back up plans, on people, candidates and political parties to provide. They rely on their own abilities, instead of God. They worship the god of government, the god of self. They forget that One true God provided government, and anointed the leaders.
Regardless of who is elected, God has placed them there. Our God is sovereign over all things, over all people, over all parties. He appointed Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. He raises up and He takes down.
There is coming a day, I think very soon, when God will bring trevail on this nation and the world, that will shake all things that we hold dear. Men in authority will fail, and God will show us that faith in Jesus is the only thing that can be counted on. All early powers will fall. Jesus will reign on this earth for a thousand years. There will be no more elections, no more campaign commercials, only the proclaimation of the glory of the Lord.
Brothers and sisters, go out and vote, but remember that God is sovereign. Let the bible be your guide as to who you should support. I will say that, the choices are more clear this time around, than in the past for the born again believer.
Rest in this: Jesus is the same today, yesterday and forever. He is constant, and will always be. Seek after Him today, and do not be swept up in to turmoil, should the outcome of the election not be as you would like.
I do believe that God is about to send His Son to deal with the sins of the world. He will bring justice. Let us not be destracted as we must be about the business of spreading the Gospel to all who will hear. Cast your vote, then go out and tell people about Jesus.

This comes to mind. 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 (ESV) 11 For you know how, like a father with his children, 12 we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.
He’s such a loving father. Jesus is coming again!
