Defeated

““Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created. “You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭28:12-15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Defeated

Lucifer had it all. He was the worship leader for the temple of God. By the description, he was beautiful, the seal of perfection. He was adorned with every precious stone. Then iniquity was found in him. I wonder if those stones were stripped from him, as they were the source of his pride, the sign of his beauty. He fell from his presence before the Lord, and lost his place.

Then God created mankind.

Here God lovingly created from the dust, creatures of flesh and blood. They were not made of precious things, but the stuff of the earth, the most base of substance. Yet, God loved them. I am sure Lucifer watched as Elohim, preincarnate Christ, formed the creation lovingly, and methodically. In his pride, I am sure that he felt deep jealousy.

When he had the chance to attack, he determined to defeat the creation that he must have felt supplanted him in the heart of God, and deceived the woman and caused them both to fall. Expecting their destruction, I am sure he looked in horror as God was not done with them. Rather than destroying them, He had a plan already in place. God was certainly done with Lucifer and cursed him.

“And the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.””
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3:13-15‬ ‭NKJV

The bible is the story of the battle over the soul of the creation. Each of us has a part in the epic, in the war of good and evil. In these perilous times, we are nearing the shattering climax of the story. The action is getting intense, but the ending is not in doubt. Satan knows he is going to lose, but he is a spoiler and he desires to create as much chaos and collateral damage as he can.

Satan cannot strike against God, but he can go after the creation. He is feeding many a strong delusion, a lie, to keep them from the Gospel. He is also distracting God’s people with conspiracies and politics to keep them from focusing on what is really important, as the end of the story nears. He hates people, especially those in the household of faith. They replaced him in the heart of God. I am sure he noticed when the priests in the temple were adorned with the very same precious stones that were on him.

Believers, we are in the last days and we need to be about the Father’s business. When I look at the struggle of this present time, I seek to remember that all the parties involved are people that Jesus went to the cross to save. I pray for leaders, I pray for people of all political and social persuasians, as the time is coming when saying yes to Jesus could be the last thing you do. It is far better to know Jesus now, rather than during tribulation.

When I said yes to Jesus, Satan was defeated. He no longer has a claim on my soul. He spends his time working hard to discredit me, to tempt me, to cause me to stumble and damage my testimony. In the midst of the attack, I cling to Jesus, His word, and prayer. Through Christ, I am victorious.

Brothers and sisters, go out and share the Gospel today, tell of the great God who gives the victory over sin and death, who has defeated Satan. Tell of Jesus, who went to the cross for our sins, and paid the price.

The victory belongs to the Lord!

“The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭20:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
