““These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:25-27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Self reliance can be beneficial as long as situations are simple and the challenges few. When the hard things come into life, one needs to call upon others to help. One thing that being disabled has taught me is that I need helpers. Fortunately my needs are relatively few, but sometimes I need assistance to accomplish things that I can’t physically get done. I have been blessed to be in the body of Christ, because I have many available to help in my time of need.

I also have helpers when I need support on the faith level. There are people who pray for me and people that I, in turn pray for. There are those who hold me accountable and those that minister to me. These are all helpers who come alongside and assist me in maintaining my spiritual health, and progressing in Christ Jesus.

There is yet another Helper, the Holy Spirit, who resides in me. When one comes to know Jesus, and sins are forgiven, there is a transaction. God sends His Holy Spirit into to the believer to empower he or she to live according to God’s will. It is impossible for those who are unsaved to live up to the standards put forth by the Father. The Holy Spirit gives me the power to live according to the will of the Lord. He also illuminates the word of God, that I can understand it as I study. He helps me to apply it to my life, as I mature. He gives me the will to pray, to worship, to seek intimacy with the Lord.

It is by the Helper, that I am being transformed, as the word, prayer and fellowship refine me. It is by the Holy Spirit that my salvation moves from simply saving me from my sins, to breaking the power of sin in my life. By the Helper, I am able to say no to the fleshly desire to sin. He gives me victory in the battle, in victory, I find peace.

In these perilous times, the Holy Spirit gives me the power to endure, to boldly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to an increasingly hostile world. I have the calm that surpasses all understanding as I go out and live out the faith that is now maligned. I have become an alien in my own land for the cause of Christ.

The disciples were facing a world that was at odds with the Gospel and their numbers were few. It would take the power of God to keep the faith alive. God has shown His great power in that the witness of Jesus Christ is still here and people are still coming to know such a great salvation.

Believers, call upon the Helper today, plug into His power and go forth to proclaim the Good News. Call upon His power to pray, to witness, to take the message boldly into the world.

I am finding that the Helper is in the midst of the chaos of this current time. By the Holy Spirit, my heart yearns for the return of my Savior. God desires to be wanted, God desires to be loved. Day by day, my desire and love for Him increase. My heart cries out Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus, and Hosanna! Save us!

If you feel troubled, know that God is for you. He has given us a Helper to give us power and peace. You are not in this alone.

If you are one who has not been forgiven, you might be feeling a little tug, a force within that is using this message to draw you. That is the Holy Spirit convicting you of your need for forgiveness. Do not ignore that feeling. He is trying to save you from your sin, from eternity in hell, and looming destruction in your life, and in this world which is waxing worse and worse. There is an end to life as we know it coming… soon. Say yes to the Jesus and you too can have that Helper to bring you peace in this storm.

1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 (ESV) 19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good.
