““The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:9-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:23-24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

There are days when I go about my life thinking that God is unaware of my thoughts, and my sins. I go, I do, and I fool myself into thinking that He does not see inside of me. In reality I am like glass, transparent, fully revealed, no secrets. The passage in Jeremiah has to do with Judah’s sin and coming judgement. God spoke of the curses of one who departs from the Lord, and then the benefits and blessings to the one who trusts in Him. This universal truth applied then, and it applies to believers today.

I know my heart of flesh is desperately wicked. God has blessed and cursed me with memory. I remember the dispicable things I have done and the toll it took on those I love, and people I don’t even know.

Every now and then the memory of a particiularly evil moment from my past will blast into my present memory. I am revulsed at the reminder of my depravity. Jesus intervenes and reminds me that He paid it all, took the hit for every sin, erased the shame and gave me new life.

I also remember that the evil one is the accuser of the brethren, and is seeking to constantly remind us of what we used to be.

We live in a world where we all think we are good. We explain away our wickedness, underplay it, or seek to compare our wickedness with that of others, as if to say, “I am not as bad as that one.” Rest assured that God searches the heart of everyone, small and great, rich and poor, black and white, and all the colors in between. He searches Democrats and Republicans, or any other party you can imagine. He searches every stratta of human walking the planet. We are all wicked, and we all deserve hell.

But God is merciful and full of grace.

As I have moved forward through my life in Christ, I am thankful for the grace of God. I still make mistakes, I still stumble, I still do human things that are wicked, but God has been gracious. He has not destroyed me, He has not placed me on the shelf, unused for His glory. He guides me with His eye, as I am transformed and made new. I walk by His grace daily.

Believers, be reminded that you had a heart that was desperately wicked, but God has, and, is changing you. He is transforming you heart day by day. As we go out into the world we encounter people who have not tasted the grace of God. They have been untouched by His spiritual blessings. We should look at them through the eyes of Christ, as ones needing salvation. With spiritual eyes, I try and see the believer they could be, and not get lost on the sinner they are. It requires the supernatural insight of God.

Brothers and sisters, we all have bad days. We all have days when we are more like the “old man” than we would like to admit. I have found that God is a great accountability partner. He searches me, and I am sensitive to hear His whispers through His word, that bring reminders and correction. I ask Him to search my heart and show me all the things that separate me from Him, and limit my usefulness.

Seek the Lord today. Remember that you are transparent to Him. He sees you just as you are. He has given you the Holy Spirit, and a connection to His word to guide and transform you. Time is short. There will come a day when the Lord will reveal who is His and who is wicked. That day is coming soon.

THE PRAYER CHAIR IS OPEN! Send me you requests!
