“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:10-18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Utility belt

We are in a time of the supernatural. Our country and the world, is in the grips of a pandemic, a Marxist takeover masquerading as “racial” strife, and is generally awash in deep, deep systemic sin. We are living life in devolution, on the fly, as the terrain changes day to day, and the rules are unclear. Truth be told, there are no rules.

There are no political solutions for this, as we have two sinners vying for office, to rule over a nation of sinners. Few are seeking God, and even fewer are aware of the spiritual forces at work. The passage in Ephesians chapter six has been stuck in my mind a lot lately. I am being constantly reminded that the battle is not one with flesh and blood. It is a spiritual battle.

We who call upon the name of the Lord are called into the war. Like it or not, we are soldiers, placed in opposition to the evil one. As in any war, we must be equipped to face the battles. Since we are dealing with spiritual things, our equipment is likewise.

When Paul wrote the Ephesian letter, he was under guard. I am sure he studied the Roman soldier assigned to him and saw the correlation between the uniform of the soldier and what is needed to fight the spiritual battle that we face. Each piece of equipment had a purpose, each was important, even crucial to the survival of the wearer.

I remember watching Batman as a child. I remember the untility belt that he wore. It had lots of little pockets, and compartments, and each was filled some kind of dazzling gadget to be used in just the right moment, to get Batman and Robin out of bad situation. As a believer, I am to be girded about with the belt of truth. The truth of God’s word. I can attest to many times when the right verse at the at the right time made all the difference.

In a world where people are more than willing to believe lies, the truth is essential. With every passing day, the bible is becoming more and more relevant. We are seeing prophecies being fulfilled right before our eyes.

Believers, this is not the time to be caught with your pants down. Gird yourselves with the truth of God’s word, compare what you hear with the truth in the bible. If the truths of the world don’t match up, favor the word, eschew the world.

We are in a time where spiritual warfare is out in the open, where evil, isn’t hiding, and things get worse from here. Lawlessness is in the open. I saw a story of a man in New York who tried to sexually assault a woman in public, in broad daylight. He didn’t care about what others thought. Sadly, no one intervened. He was run off because he didn’t want an audience.

The best defense is a good offense. We bring the belt of truth in the form of the Gospel, the news of God’s forgiveness of our sins. Let us go out and tell people of Jesus, He who died on the cross, was buried, and rose on the third day. He is alive and at the right hand of the Father, and He IS coming again.
