“God is jealous, and the LORD avenges; The LORD avenges and is furious. The LORD will take vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies; The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, And will not at all acquit the wicked. The LORD has His way In the whirlwind and in the storm, And the clouds are the dust of His feet. He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, And dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither, And the flower of Lebanon wilts. The mountains quake before Him, The hills melt, And the earth heaves at His presence, Yes, the world and all who dwell in it. Who can stand before His indignation? And who can endure the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are thrown down by Him. The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.”
Nahum 1:2-7 NKJV
It is easy to be overwhelmed at the injustices of this current world. It seems like right and wrong are simply ignored. We have many people marching for an end to racial injustice, and proclaiming that black lives matter, yet the deaths of millions of black infants goes unnoticed, sacrificed on the altar of self, slaughtered in the name of choice. Who knows what impact all of those potential lives could have on the country.
We recoil in horror as the rights of the righteous, seem to be slipping away, and the rights of the evil are proclaimed. We who call upon the name of the Lord, who belong to a Holy God, are repulsed at the devolution of the nation we hold dear. It is not only here, but all over the world. I am horrified at the reports of dissidents, wuyger muslims, Falun Gong practcianers, and christians are imprisoned, tortured, killed and made involutary organ donors by the Socialist regime. It is easy to wonder where God is in all of this.
In this morning’s time in Nahum, I was reminded that God is aware and He is not going to acquit. It is like the evil guilty are like an egg on a rising platform, being ratcheted up ever higher, all the while they think they are getting away with all that they have done. One day, and I believe soon, gravity will have its say and those elevated will come crashing to the earth. Destruction and eternal damnation are assured.
We believers are in an unususal situation, as we are to take the message of Jesus’ death burial and resurrection to the those doing evil, that they be saved. We are like Stephen, our forerunner, who at the point of death by stoning, urged the Lord to forgive them, just as Jesus did on the cross.
We cannot do that by our flesh, but only in the spirit. Soon, the tribulation saints will face some of the darkest days in history, but they will share the Gospel and a multitude will be saved.
Let us be about the Father’s business while we are still here, let us remember that we are here to share the Gospel of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, and the forgiveness of sins.
We serve a vengeful God. He is taking account of the deaths of all the innocents, and all the injustices. We who believe, and have been saved are in a place of safety, as we have made peace through the blood of Jesus. Take joy that you know Him and He knows us.
Do not be discouraged! God will move, and He will make all things right!
