“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21 NKJV
I have to admit that there are times when I become discouraged. The world I am living in is devolving and dying in open view, and I feel like there is nothing to stop it from happening. My nation is dying, as the anguished cries fill the headlines.
I see the misery on faces of the people I encounter. I know that many of them do not know the Lord and are headed for a Christ-less eternity in hell. I mourn over the people I share this great faith with, who have begun to worship at the altar of their chosen candidate, flawed sinners themselves, who cannot deliver anyone.
I am most saddened when I try and give hope to my fellow saints, weary and looking for the Lord. We who call upon the name of the Lord, are waiting expectantly for the coming of Jesus to take us home to Heaven. I am weary, weary of politics, weary of the violence, weary of the despair, and weary of seeing the fathomless potential for inhumanity, and not being surpised by it. I know that the world is crying out. We believers are crying out, as the darkness seems to be pushing away the light.
We serve a God that is beyond it all. He is able and He is working. None of the things happening today, have happened without God knowing. Take heart in that they are part of His plan. They are but birth pangs. Speaking as a man, I cannot know the pain of child birth. But I do understand that the travail, gives way to joy in the delivery. Our pain in these times will give way to joy, as the Lord comes and establishes His kingdom.
In the mean time, we have Jesus and His Comforter, the Holy Spirit to sustain us. Believers remember that God is with you, God is for you, God is in you. You are not facing all of this alone. There is coming a day. Change will come in the twinkling of an eye.
Rise each day knowing. I awaken each day wondering what I will see God do, what He will do in my life, in my world, how He will intervene, and, most of all, if this is the day He comes for me. The expectancy is enough to sustain me. I pray, I read His word, I listen to worship music and listen to good bible teaching. All of these things serve to help me remember that God is in control. I am filled with knowledge of my faithful God, and His love for me.
Brothers and sisters, hold on! The Lord is in control. Ask Him for the strength to endure. He is able to go beyond anything you could ever ask or think. He will give you abundantly, He will sustain you and provide His power in your time of need. Tougher times are coming. We must seek the Lord and know that He is for us. We must also share the Gospel. We have but a little while to tell of the grace of God, and the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. Let us be bold. I can tell you that those not in the household of faith are aware of the changes in our world. Some of them are ready to hear what you have to say.
Do not despair at the things that are happening. Hold on!
