“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:18-25‬ ‭NASB‬‬

In my darkest of times, I was given over to sin. Even at my worst, though, there seemed to be a limit, a line that I never cared to cross. I would go only so far, as I felt reined in when I got too close to the edge. I always felt that if I strayed over that line, the fall would be great. I would experience the consequences of my sin. Those consequences would be due me.

In my life I have become a consequentialist. I believe that if one desires to have their way and is not willing to be reined in, then they should be given over to their lust. I will never know that what my life would ha e been like had I been given over to my depravity. The consequences would have been earned, I would bear the blame for my destruction.

I believe God is about to give America over to its lust. We, and the rest of humanity, have railed against God, time and time again, as we have sought to have our freedom. A freedom based on the pursuit of our lust. Freedom, that is really bondage. Thanks be to God who knows the end from the beginning. In His infinite mercy He has sought to lead us to greater things, even as we go astray.

We are special to God, so much so that He sent His Son to come to be with us, to live as one of us. He then came to take on our sin, pay for our sin on the cross and be buried and then rise from the dead to give us newness of life. Jesus came that we can be free of the hold of sin. Yet we run to it anyway.

Over the past few years, I have seen our world seemingly careen toward oblivion as sin has become a badge of honor. We are voting for sin, our judiciary is siding with sin, and all the pursuit of lust that is consuming us and sending us into a spiral that will end in the moral destruction of the nation, and the world.

The passage above is a perfect illustration for where we are. It is a frightening picture indeed.

In all of this, I sense God’s sovereignty in all of this. This is hard for me. I am struggling with idea that God is ordaining all of this. Then I remember Pharaoh who enslaved the children of Israel. Their freedom came with the repeated hardening the heart of Pharaoh, as God attacked each and every God of Egypt.

This time around, God is using the inertia of sin to defeat itself, just as He did with Jesus on the cross. Momentary victory, led to eternal defeat, as Jesus played the long game, and complete victory is assured. Believers, keep your eyes on the long game. Be encouraged because we know the end of the story.

Believers, we are facing a very frightening future. I sit here trying not to wonder what will be coming next. I have some ideas, but I don’t want to scare you. We are in a time when we need to be about the Father’s business like never before. We all have a calling.

This morning I read of India and China skirmishing along the border, of North Korea blowing up a joint office shared with South Korea, and things are always ready to happen in the Middle East as eyes are increasingly focused on Israel. Everything is happening at once, everywhere. Our time is short. We must be about the Father’s business as we have been gifted and called.

Those of you called to confront the evil one in the courts and the government, must do so with increased gusto. The evil one is using edict and verdict to stifle the giving of the good news and the values of the kingdom. You are fighting for more time to spread the Gospel.

Those who pastor, prepare your flocks to go out and share the Gospel. Preach as if tomorrow, the government will shut you down. Wait…they did that. Preach anyway, even if you have to take to the streets!

Those called to evangelize and disciple must go about the work with divine fervency. It is now or never.

Do you teach? Do so as if you are being directly placed on mission by God. Pray for the Holy Spirit to teach you, that you pass on the vast treasures of God that is the Word.

Do you counsel, call on the anointing of the Lord that you have discernment in helping those in need of emotional support and empowering reach maturity and live up to their calling.

Those who give, provide for those doing the work. Your giving is greatly needed.

Those of us who pray, let us do so knowing that we have the ear of God. We cannot miss! We have the Holy Spirit taking our prayers and reforming them, and we have Jesus petitioning on the behalf of all believers.

When you hear of more dark things coming and wonder what will happen next to our world, remember that Jesus has overcome the world. Do not fear, but love. Do not be silent, but proclaim the Gospel loudly, that all may hear. Do not worry about tomorrow! Jesus Christ is already there.

““So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
‭‭Matthew 6:34 NASB

“And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.””
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:10-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
