“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.””
Romans 1:16-17 NASB
We are in perilous times. I can’t remember a moment in history when so many things were having and impact on the nation and the world at one time. We are dealing with a new unknown virus, and the old sin or racial bias that has infected the world for centuries. We seek to to deal with both with tried and untrue methods that always seem to come up short. Our country is locked into an insane spiral, where we are trying to do the same things over and over and expecting a different outcome.
If I have learned anything in my life, it is that old methods that failed in the past will fail in the future. There is nothing we can do to alleviate the suffering. I suspect that we are about to be rocked with yet another great calamity that we cannot see. That would be fitting for the time we are living in.
In all of these things, I have only one answer: Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again. He died on that cross to pay for our sin debt. We humans are sinners, condemned already, and Jesus is the ONLY way to be forgiven of that sin. That sin has corrupted our world and everything in it, and every human interaction.
I am not ashamed of the Gospel that saved my soul, that has transformed me and is still transforming me, as all my dark places are being illuminated, showing the sinful filth that still remains.
I know that the message that we are all sinners is not a popular one. It is indeed a message that, at the very least, brings boos, and at very worst, can be deadly to the called one bringing it. I read of street preacher yesterday who sought to bring the message of Jesus Christ to the inhabitants of the “republic of Chaz.” He was attacked and reportedly physically assaulted. He was sexual assaulted by an unwanted kiss from a man, who sought to mock him. I saw a picture of him being dragged from the encampment, unconscious.
So much irony. The people of Chaz are clamoring for change, for a reality where the rights of human beings are respected regardless of race, yet they strip this man of his rights, of his very humanity. The solution that they seek can only be brought about by the transforming power of be Holy Spirit. He is the one that makes us new. True equality is only found at the cross.
That street preacher bravely tried to bring the truth into Chaz. He was a missionary to a hostile nation. We are all called to do what he attempted to do. Jesus is the answer, to a world filled with problems.
We are all sinners. We are all bound for hell, if not for Jesus.
Believers, be proud of the Gospel! By God’s grace you have been forgiven and are destined for Heaven. You were not saved to warm a pew, but to proclaim the work of God in you. You show what God has done through the good works that show the glory of God.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:8-10 NASB
We had nothing to do with our being selected, it is His grace. I am amazed that He chose me.
I boldly share the Gospel of Jesus to all who need to hear. Only the proud will ignore the message. In Christ all lives matter. All souls matter. I must share the Gospel regardless of who I might offend. It is the only answer.
Pray for opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray that you have the boldness to speak up, and proclaim the good news, and tell of the transforming power in your life.
You might be well received, you might be rejected. Remember, they are not rejecting you, but God who sent you. Ours is not to bring the harvest, though it is awesome to do so, but ours is to plant the seed.
That street preacher planted seeds in Chaz. I heard of one voice, who desired him to be able to speak. That means that there was one heart open to the message of the Gospel.
My brothers and sisters, be bold and unashamed!
