Keepers of the light

“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.””
‭‭John‬ ‭8:12‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Keepers of the light

The shadow of darkness is covering the entire world. Death appears to have dominion and fear is a constant for so many, as a unseen enemy claims the light of life on earth. It has brought the entire world to a standstill. This event is a world changer.

This is not the first time.

In the small town of Bethlehem, a humble woman surrendered herself and became the blessed one, chosen to carry the One who would shake the planet to its core and upend the world. His birth split time and His life turned the world upside down. He brought Sonlight brighter than the sun, to a world lost to sin and death.

The message of the Gospel has more power than any virus and is the cure for the most lethal infection of all: sin. The temptation, in this dark time, is to spend all of ones time focused on situation that we find ourselves in. Satan is a master of the diversion. He has juked the world with the ultimate misdirection, as all of humanity is transfixed on the crisis.

The greatest proof of God’s sovereignty is closing of the churches and the freeing of the Gospel message from buildings of brick and mortar, and onto the endless pathways of the internet. The word of God has escaped the Holy Huddle, and is now roaming free, vaccinating souls, and killing sins destruction.

I find myself on fire. I have repeatedly prayed for God to have free reign in my life and move me to action. In my past, I yearned to have some kind of ministry where I could have an impact on many. In my minds eye, I envisioned my teaching many the word of God. Today I sit in my recliner, sipping coffee, listening to worship music and thumbing my thoughts into my phone. He has also given me a desire to pray. In these humble actions, my soul is alight. I am where He wants me.

In this darkness, Jesus is the light of the world. People everywhere are considering eternity, as death lingers, literally, in the air, infecting many. Quarantined people are looking inwardly and considering all things pertaining to life. “Who am I?” and “What happens when I die?”, and the greatest question of all, “Where will I go?”

Believers, you are keepers of the light. Jesus saved you for such a time as this. In this present darkness, we are given the opportunity to shine the light of the Gospel to a world of open hearts. Even the most radical atheist must be wondering what is happening. Eternity as waits us all.

It is time for us to be bold, to share the Good News at a time when so much of it is bad.

We all have a story. The story of what God has done in our lives, the story of what He is doing, and the confidence we have in a future in Heaven come what may. Some may have stories filled with juicy details of people moving from depravity to holiness, others have stories of lives kept from sins destruction by coming to know Christ early. Every story is valid and God has just the right person in mind to hear it.

I challenge everyone to begin writing a rolling testimony, or spiritual journal detailing how God has delivered you. Tell of the good things that God has done. Begin shining the light of Jesus into this world so hungry for light.

We are to be the keepers of the light, drawing many to the light of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. Let’s be torches, leading the way through this present darkness, and guiding others to the God of our Salvation!

Shine!

“”You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:14-16‬ ‭NASB‬‬
