“Now Moses called all Israel and said to them: “You have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land— the great trials which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders. Yet the LORD has not given you a heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear, to this very day. And I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn out on your feet. You have not eaten bread, nor have you drunk wine or similar drink, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.”
Deuteronomy 29:2-6 NKJV
Jesus, there’s no one like you
His love is so complete. The more my world shakes and the more trouble seems to threaten, the more complete, and certain, the mercies of God are made manifest. I have reason to fear all that is happening in this world right now. We are one bad day from the very fabric of our world completely unraveling. In the midst of it I have the most amazing peace.
In my carnal mind, I easily become preoccupied with erecting my fear gods, so that I may worship. When I am not careful, this is an irresistible drive. My fear gods are big and shiny and beautiful. In my past I have served them dutifully. God has launched a hostile takeover of the territory ceded to the evil one. My fear gods are crumbling as I go to God to find the real help.
Jesus settled everything on the cross. He defeated death and hell, the biggest fears that I had. Then He orchestrated situations in my life where the fear gods would have gotten my attention, and drew me with His faithfulness and glory. He calmed the storm in me.
Do not let fear become your God. Look back, brothers and sisters and remember all the times that He has been there! Know that He will be there, come what may! He delivered you in the past. The children of Israel were being urged to remember. I love the relentlessness of Moses as he wasted no opportunity to remind the people of who God was, is and would be.
Keep looking up!
In the moments when your heart is weak, keep looking up! When doubt starts to move in and darkness is spreading, keep looking up! When you find yourself worrying about what could happen next…keep looking up!
He is there!
Remember that. He is a great God who gave all for you! If you have never come to know this Jesus I am speaking of, now is the time to know him. If you have not had your sins forgiven, COVID-19 is the least of your concerns. Hell awaits.
There is no one like Jesus! I am completely captivated by Him and marvel at how He has changed my life. He has refined me in ways that I would never have thought of in my past. He has defeated sin and death and nothing stands against Him.
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39 NKJV
