“O clap your hands, all peoples; Shout to God with the voice of joy. For the LORD Most High is to be feared, A great King over all the earth.”
Psalms 47:1-2 NASB
The Bible is a treasure book! Everyday I open it and each time the Lord gives me the riches of truth that I need for each day. Regardless of how I feel, I seek the word early and go to Him to see what precious spiritual trinkets He has for me.
I must admit that I am much more needy and expectant than usual these days. The news from around the world drags me down as there seems to be no end in sight for the state we find ourselves in. If I spend too much time looking at the bad, I become dark. The light of Christ illuminated me within and joy comes.
I have great joy in knowing that my God is in the midst of this present storm. My daily reminders found in my bible help me place my focus on my unchanging and faithful God, and not on the world under the shadow of virus.
Not only am I reading my bible, I am listening to a lot of worship music that God uses to brush aside the debris of the worry that can clutter my mind, and make room for a more clear path to peace. Music has the power to pull my heart and mind from the depths of despair. Over the last few months the Lord has guided me to so much great music, that I have a wide variety to choose from as in seek after Him.
The word and worship are helping me to survive, no thrive, in this uncertain time.
Brothers and sisters, God has given us time. Spend a little more of it in the Scriptures, see the faithfulness of our God when the world appears to be falling apart. God’s word reminds us that He is always there. This virus is like a worldwide earthquake, shaking every people and every land. Abiding in Jesus, we are secure as the earth shakes, we will be unshaken.
Try to spend less time focused on the situation. I must confess, I have spent way too much time watching documentaries on pandemics. I am going to try and spend much more time studying the God who is in control of all of this.
Take some time to pray today. I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to pray and petition for others. The events of the past few weeks have highlighted the importance of intercession, as so many people have had their lives turned upside down. I have the feeling that all of this is just the beginning.
The passage above always brings me to celebration as I ponder the goodness of my God and all that He has delivered me through, and all He will deliver me through in the future. I not only clap my hands, I give my God a standing ovation!
My salvation is the greatest cause for celebration! Jesus went to the cross for me, that I escape hell. It didn’t stop there, He saved me for a purpose that brings even more joy. I get to tell people about Him and the great things He has done. He has transformed my life. I am new.
Remember that God is in the quarantine with you! He is with you each and every step! Look for Him!
