Weary

“But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40:31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Weary

For years I have felt I a mortal weariness. I awaken in the morning with a heaviness as I face another day. My flesh is wearing out and there is pain as I shake off the sleep and move my body into action.

There is also a spiritual weariness as I face another day in this fallen world. Our sin has brought corruption and that corruption has made life difficult. It is drudgery to push through each day, battling through the waves of spiritual oppression that come at me from every turn. In my flesh I am powerless.

In Christ I am powerful.

Prayer, Scripture and worship are essentials to survival. Just as breakfast, water and coffee prepare my body for daily battle, a deliberate feeding of the soul is needed. On the days that I neglect to do the spiritual things, I feel a struggle, a hunger, an emptiness that can sometimes be filled with things that do not edify.

There is great joy in seeking the Lord early. He fortifies me to face what may come. I have found the prayer chair demands it. The evil one is working over time to defeat the people of God and far too often we are surrendering without a fight. We simply have no resources to take the blows that are coming at us. In the defeat we stumble and fall and take others with us.

I say over and over we are being watched. If you are a father or mother, your kids are watching you. If you are not demonstrating the habits of holiness, they won’t either. You can’t leave it too the church to teach your kids. God gave them to you. I remember watching my mother pray and read her scriptures everyday. I heard her sing hymns in the kitchen. She laid the groundwork for my walk today.

Have no kids? You are still being watched, something that I am fully, and sometimes painfully, aware.

We walk daily in a fallen end spiritually polluted world, yet we are to be representing Jesus. We must be successful, too much is riding on it.

Walking in weariness? Wait upon the Lord! Use His power to give you the strength. Let’s soar today!
