Thoughts from an idle mind

Thoughts from an idle mind…

“And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed.””
‭But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, “Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us.” But He answered and said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But she came and began to bow down before Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” And He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” But she said, “Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus said to her, “O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed at once.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭15:22-28‬ ‭NASB‬‬

I love the Bible! It is like a love letter from God to me! The gift of the Holy Spirit afforded me by Jesus’ work on the cross gives me the understanding of it. His work on the cross also gives me access to God in prayer. These are the trappings of faith that believers have in Jesus Christ. Those outside of the faith have no access, no understanding of the Scriptures, no prayer access to God. We live in a world full of people shouting out in pain and need like the woman above. They cry out with no hope! The pain drives them into stop gap behaviors that only deepen the pain. Too often those of us with hope run away or shut our ears. We look at the behaviors or lifestyles of people crying out in pain and are repulsed. That repulsion should instead be a call to pray.
We have been given the good food on the table as those belonging to the household of faith. We must remember that there are those who need the crumbs. We mustn’t sit comfortable in our salvation as a world is destroyed, but we must share what we have been given. The crumbs of the Gospel must be spread, the crumbs of the word of God, the crumbs of Holy Spirit power given to us from on high to power evangelism, must not remain on the table but spill on the ground. We must be messy eaters!
This requires us to go beyond our comfortable boundaries and actually make contact with the lost. It means looking beyond the behaviors which are symptoms of sin and share the crumbs which can transform cries of pain into shouts of hallelujah!
Spill some crumbs today!!!
